Re: To Offline 2K Gamers - What would it take to get you online?

I don't play online with sports games anymore.

Too many things annoy me about online.

If it's not someone cheesing by passing the ball around at the corner of the pitch or dropping back 40 yards in Madden to pass to Fitzgerald or something, it's lag, quitters, or hackers.

I'd rather play with the AI. At least they don't try and cheat by not playing the game the way it should be or rage quit when they're losing.

Re: To Offline 2K Gamers - What would it take to get you online?

I've played a few games online vs people I know, and it's OK. But when I play a sports game, I like to play association/franchise/dynasty because there is a goal: get to playoffs, get to the championship game, etc. I also find the off-season kind of fun trying to realistically upgrade my team - so it's not just playing the game, but the GM challenges as well.

I might be willing to try an online league if it still had all of these components (does it?). Now how you could schedule games with 29 other people I have no clue - I don't think I'd ever be able to work that kind of scheduling out. Is it like NCAA where you can start an Association with just a few people, and play games vs the CPU when no one is assigned to that team? I could go for something like that.

BTW, the lag stinks, but if I were doing it more often, I guess it wouldn't be so bad.

Every time I've tried any sports game in an online multiplayer mode, what happens on the screen looks absolutely nothing like the sport in question (basketball in this case obviously). Even with Sim ballers, it just doesn't look like basketball.

I only played my friends and family online. Other than that, I enjoy playing the cpu.

No lag would do it for me.

I play against local friends all the time. I just hate playing online and losing to players I know I'm much better than due to them being used to the lag.

The few times I've played 2k online I felt kinda forced into just driving the ball to the rim because I just couldn't rely on getting perfect releases like I always do offline.

Re: To Offline 2K Gamers - What would it take to get you online?

Okay so the main reason seems too be that alot of you just like CPU play and career modes better than online; totally understandable. I also play alot of association mode and my player (Offline. I hate crew mode)

The one thing that i don't understand is the "Lag" . I rarely ever experience lag online unless the weather is extremely horrible or something to that effect. Im guessing you guys have "Bad" connections maybe ? or you live in westbumble***k ? Although there is a slight timing release on jumpshots.. its easily remedied by playing a few games and getting used to the difference .

Playing in leagues with a good group of players is extremely fun especially when playing a full 82 game season. I usually don't like playing with all 30 teams because this creates problems where at least 5 people don't play their games if they aren't all committed. Also to answer one of the questions earlier, you can play a flex schedule so you don't have to schedule games with other players accordingly. You just hop on and play whoever is online in the league lobby until you have played all your allowed games together.

Not just for 2K, but for all games, I like playing against CPU instead because you can adjust sliders to get realistic results. So if you win or lose, it's a realistic game. And it's just not that fun playing online against someone if you don't know them.
