What's funny is that in every other sports I know there woudn't even be any debate. A soccer team from the sixties would be ridiculous against today's teams. So would be a rugby team or a tennisman. Sport is young and within 50 years a lot has happend, probably way more than what will happen in the next 50 years.

You guys have seen the video, the Big O is 6-5 muscular PG who can create his own shot and pass. He would be a perfect fit in the NBA of today.
Would Oscar Robertson or Jerry West even make an NBA roster in todays game ?

1987 MJ or 2006 Kobe would easily average 50+ PPG if they played in the 60s.

1962 Oscar Robertson in current NBA = Andre Miller
1969 Jerry West in current NBA = Steve Blake
1964 Bill Russell in current NBA = Ben Wallace

Probably....as 7th or 8th man off the bench. Starters? No chance!

Wow! Would Jerry West or Oscar even make a team today???
The real question would be, Would Steve Nash or Dwayne Wade have made a team back then?
Nice players with today's rules; But back then, you actually had to make 60% of your shots and 95% of your Free Throws or you'd be on the bus home.
And they didnt have private Jets, or saunas, or even much more than aspirin for aches and bruises. If you twisted an ankle or a knee, you was expected to keep playing. Not like today when if a guy's feet hurt, they take him out for three weeks.

Let's face it, the 1972-73 Sixers is the best team of all time.

And so far as Michael Jordan?
Let me tell you something... Michael would have come into the lane against Russell one time. That's it, once! Because after Russell close-lined him, and Michael got off the floor missing a few teeth, he wouldn't come back that way again. Just sayin.
It's like Mercury Morris said when asked about the 16-0 Patriots vs the 16-0 Dolphins.. "It all depends on whose rules we're playin by".
They didnt play nice back then.

Goes back to the magic birth date then. So Magic, Bird, MJ, Pippen and co would be studs today? but Oscar cannot even make the team? Its ignorant and arrogant to think literally everything current is better. Why does Mantle still have the furthest home run when today's players are bigger and the bats better? Why do we still compare fastballs to Nolan Ryan who started in the the 1960s?

Again, under this logic the 96 Bulls cannot be the best team ever. Even if you debated MJ somehow does not count because he was so good (the same argument that someone in the 1980s might say about the Big O). That means the rest of the Bulls team would be substandard compared to the players of today. You cannot state that everyone today is so amazing that some of the games greats couldn't even make a team and still declare a team 15 years ago as the best.

'86 Celtics or '87 Lakers. Can't see any team in history beating them, in a fair 7-game series.
