PS3: Freezing/Hanging/Data Corruption

2k12 is constantly freezing, in different spots, at first i thought it was my ps3s laser, but all my other games work perfect, i even cleaned the laser with a laser cleaning disk, and reformatted my ps3, it worked better for a while but then started doing the same thing

it freezes usually at the loading video before i can press start, but not always sometimes i can get past that screen and even into a game but then the announcers disappear and it will hang at the end of quarters, music skips etc (guessing because its tryin to read the disc or hd?)

@ one point on start up i got ps3 error 80010514, and that error is supposed to be to do with corrupt files, i restored the file system etc, but game still consistently freezing all over the place

i turned off all the music as well, seemed to help a little bit, giving it less to read

like i said i really dont think its my laser, i can play MW3 perfectly fine

this is getting stupid, keeps freezing or commentators lag out, 10 minute halftimes, intro wont load etc, problem seems to be random read errors at no one particular moment,

i have deleted the game data and patch, restored the file system, even system restored my whole playstation and re-installed firmware 4.00

and the same problem arises, It cant be my PS because all my other games work as normal, no problems, and i see im not the only one with the exact same issue

The problem has something to do with data corruption, and it only started happening the day of DLC and firmware 4.00

2k can you please give me a solution, i can get it past the intro screen sometimes, and it worked all day yesterday actually but now its the same thing, data just keeps getting corrupted and it cant read properly

I had some of the same issues you are having especially the commentators dropping out and the game then "freezing" at an inbound or halftime. I tried everything from deleting all 2k12 data to resetting my PS3 is factory default and I still had issues. I ended up renting another copy from redbox and as I suspected it was an issue with my disk. Since I have been using the rental I have had none of the issues I was having previously.

Not saying it will work for you but it is worth a shot since it did work for me. If you can get a copy for cheap(rental) then try it out and see.

and besides i really doubt its the copy of the game, because it worked perfectly fine, no issues for a month, and then on the day of the DLC (which i didnt DL) and firmware 4.00 it started doing this stuff

I doubted it was my copy of the game as well. It's not like I wanted to re-set my PS3 to factory default and lose all my game saves(for every game) but I did since I was out of options. After that failed to remedy my problem(some the same ones you are having) I was left with one only theory and that was a problem with the disk itself. My original game looks to have no visual flaws, however since I have been playing the rental I have had zero issues with game. This leads me to the conclusion that it was the disk I had. I never said go spend another $60 on the game, all I said was I was able to rent a copy cheaply(sorry if you can't) and you should try that if you can. Once again like I said it worked for me, may be a different issue than yours it was just attempt to help.
