this wasnt an option in 2k11 but i do it all the time in 2k12 and its worse online where 2k refuses to put the game on a challenging level

The bumps on the perimeter in 2K11 are flat out illegal. They need to implement on ball defense that changes your angle to the basket rather than just a bump. Maybe the inside game could be more physical as well-- not sure and I think it depends on the teams playing. Have you tried turning inside shot contact sliders up?

Re: Nba2k12= lack of physical play.

The bumping that does exist is still flawed. A 6'0" 180lb PG can get the exact same bumping animations on a 7'0" 250lb C that another C of equal size could get. There's no differentiation between players with extreme size miss matches. I should be able to go where ever I want with a big that size or at least look like the PG is exerting his entire body and getting minimal success while the inverse happens with the C in the low post on switches.

And don't get me started on being boxed out by much smaller players with high effectiveness.

Id like to be able to know the difference between a physical player and a finese player. The problem in 2k11 was that everybody played pyhsical and could initiate these exxagerated bump animations on the perimiter. I have no problem with adding more contact in the paint with physical defenders.

Boston's style of defense is all but obselete. They are by no means the rule when it comes to half court defense in today's NBA. The OP is off base.

2k11 was better on and offline than 2k12. Especially online with the different lobbies. I can only tolerate 12 offline.

i agree with the OP as far as the user trying to bodying up a guy b4 he catches the ball. the LT button has been nerfed to where i wonder if it even works sometimes. unless youre precision perfect with the left stick, your "body up" will fail and the guy will slide right by you like greased lightning. the CPU does a decent job when setting everyone to deny though but your offball help d skills better be on point or else its foul/dunk city.

Re: Nba2k12= lack of physical play.

real physics are nowhere to be found in this game when it comes to creating contact with the ball handler...i can run right into the ball handler at full speed and he'll just conveniently slip right past me as if both players have been lathered in bacon greese. the ball handler is invincible to the laws of physics so he can just go where ever he wants...it's been nothing but pure frustration and disappointment trying to play defense in this damn game.

the only problem with 2k11's bumping was that one long bump animation...all they had to do was shorten that one animation, instead we get this annoying no-contact game...

in 2k12 there are no more hip rides when running into the ball handler's side. this is B.S. where's the physics?

all the time i see situations where i'm blocking the ball handler's path and should be stopping him in his tracks, only to see him "mario run" directly into my body with no contact animation...then he just keeps mario-running against me until the game decides it's time for him to slip by me.

what 2k needs to do is have bumping happen when it should...but allow both the defender and the offensive player break out of the bump animation by changing their direction. have more bumping, but make it less canned and add at least 3 branching points to the bump animation. if the ball handler gets bumped, allow him to change his dribbling direction or spin to break out of the bump animation...
