Playing OA against CPU Detroit....play tough D...5 seconds left Ben Wallace has the ball near three point line (here I am thinking oh yeah I got this)...he then proceeds to drain the shot nothing but net...

Re: so the CPU makes everything, is that supposed to be good gameplay

I've also had a hard time with this game so far. Apart from games like my last tonight where CPU had tons of free throws and FT% of 93, my weak side seems to be scoring from inside the paint. I still have shot quality ratings and timing indicator on and in recent games I've always looked at these quality ratings. What I just don't get is why CPU seems to score more often with D rated shots than I do with C+ ratings (and good timing of course). Also CPU sometimes gets an A rating although I have 2 players on him with their hands in his face!? It's really annoying, I manage to defend until the shot clock is down to a few seconds and then they somehow zoom into the paint and score on C/D rated throws. Should they miss, they score on a 2nd chance after their many offensive rebounds.

And only with slimm44's roster & sliders I managed to make some good fast breaks. Never got that right before because my players were overtaken or seemed to hide behind the opponent to make pass reception impossible.

Another thing is that except for some players I don't know their hot zones. I have read on 2K's facebook site (Dev Insight #12) that you should get controller vibration when I enter a players hot zone, but I have never felt anything during a game. Is this a finally non-realized feature or a bug in the PC version (I'm playing with xbox controller and do get vibration during FTs)?
EDIT: Sorry, my fault! It's working, just weaker than I expected or maybe I'm not standing still long enough? Anyway, it never caught my attention so far.

One final question. Shouldn't even slow players when running with the ball be faster than other players when they dribble? There are players in different rosters that move awfully slow when I hold RT. This slow motion type of animation makes you fall asleep. Watching that is really painful. I even have the impression that they become faster when I release RT again.

Also funny, my games don't change much when I switch between pro and all-star. I guess my scoring sucks and my D is about equal at both difficulty settings. Still I haven't resigned yet, although I have thought about getting back to NHL12 despite its awful AI and physics issues.

I've noticed you can switch difficulty mid game with custom sliders. And when you exit the game change the mode and reset sliders to sim then adjust them. Or else I don't think it plays as hard. And I think sliders closest to default sim are the best. Give or take 5-8 points on some with the exception of fatigue, fouls, and contact.

Yes, this is awful.

I have to agree that the experience vs. the cpu this year has been utterly ridiculous. I have analyzed, researched, and practiced my fingers sore to try to figure out what the deal is but to no avail. The things that really drive me up the wall are when I shoot several A+ to B- quality shots and miss while the CPU shoots several D- to C+ quality shots and make them all. Another issue is when the CPU consistently out-rebounds my team even when I pick a team that has a distinctive advantage in rebounding ratings. I have to admit, my experience with 2K this year hasn't be that great. I have had some fun but a majority of my gaming experience has been very negative and frustrating. I'm almost at the point of shelving it and waiting for next year.

I think there are some very positive aspects of the game but the CPU is very overpowering and it makes the game somewhat unplayable for me. It's funny that this thread was on top when I just finished quitting a game I played as the Bulls where the Pacers were shooting 72% from the field and 65% from 3 late inthe 2nd quarter. Really? And I'm talking about with hands in faces and poor quality shots. I can't take it. I have to just turn the game off and do something else. My recreation time shouldn't stress me out. I am trying to enjoy myself not take on a new job for no pay.....

Re: so the CPU makes everything, is that supposed to be good gameplay

Most of the cpu shots are inside, the sliders I use I reduce inside shot to 45 and cpu inside shot tendency to 20.

the cpu rarely make mistakes no matter how bad the passer or dribbler they don't loose the ball or rarely throw bad passes... Sliders help but only a little.

Don't jump and use the shot stick to play defense in the paint..

Play tight defense on great shooters and deny ball. For onball defense sag on bad shooters, mostly C's or PF's unless they can shoot and offball defense sag off on bad shoots make them shoot jumpers i.e. Joel Anthony, Diop, Perkins, Milicic, etc...

I recommend lowering the cpu's shot sliders 5-10 points. Its a shame we have to work to get open looks while the CPUs 6 foot tall PG can bury a three with a 6-10 forwards hand in the face.
