Art team works on art.

Gameplay team works on gameplay.

Is it that hard to understand?

I'm a pretty big sneaker head myself so I feel your pain. Like you're saying with these Olympic Jordans this isn't even a license issue because they were trying to make that shoe they just didn't create it correctly lol. They also need to add old school shoes if they're going to make old school players. There's a lot more they can do with shoes they just choose not to, maybe so they can save space for other areas in the game we may need more? I'm not sure but I can relate to this thread.

I was going to defend 2k on why they shouldn't waste time getting the shoes right, but then I remember that they have every player's tattoos correct... So if they spend the time doing that.... GET THE SHOES RIGHT 2K!

Basketball is a huge part of African-American culture, there is no denying it. The same can be said of sneakerhead culture as well as hip-hop. Majority of the NBA is made up of African-Americans.

Basketball, sneakers, and hip-hop are linked forever regardless of what anybody thinks to the contrary. These 3 elements are worldwide phenomenons now, and they aren't just limited to the poor black kids in the inner city any more. Everybody can enjoy them.

Why do you think you hear predominantly hip-hop music in the 2K menus and in-game arenas? Why is Jay-Z Executive Producing this years title?

Growing up in the hood meant having the latest and best sneakers as a form of expression on AND off the court. At the end of the day, that's what it's all about: Expression.

Matching sneakers with your outfit for the day, or matching them up with your basketball uniform and accessories in unique ways. It's just ingrained in the culture.

So naturally those of us who are passionate about this kind of thing want it to be done RIGHT or not done at all. We want our My Players to be able to wear the correct and accurate Air Jordans from that time period. Hell, we want the actual virtual version of JORDAN HIMSELF to be wearing his correct shoes in the proper colorways. It's not much to ask.

Yet for some reason, 2K seems to continually drop the ball, so I felt this thread is necessary. The good thing about 2K is, they've worked themselves into a position where us fans can complain about the small things like shoes, art, hairstyles, uniforms etc. because the actual gameplay is so good year after year.

So I feel justified in letting my voice be heard when it comes to sneakers. Sue me. No one put a gun to your head and said "Enter this thread".

No, I'm going to get the game regardless because it's a great basketball sim and I have fun with it. It's just insulting that they sign the greatest player to ever lace them up and then get his sneakers wrong.

I understand the licensing issues, but I should have been more clear in the original post.

They have a Nike/Jordan license, yet a lot of the shoes have incorrect coloring and colorblocking. That's my issue. Classic shoes being butchered when they already have the license to get it 100% right.

It would be like if the Celtics wore green away unis but instead of white names/numbers, 2K made the name/numbers green as well. It would look ugly and off and completely disrespectful to an iconic uniform and team.

Now imagine if 2k did that and then left it that way for 3 years...

You have a way with words. I chuckled a little bit when reading that, but there is no reason we all can't eat and be merry. I want crew back also.

Exactly.

And I made the thread for that reason - people are scared to bring up the sneaker issue because of ridicule.

That would make the majority of the NBA players females then too. They care just as much about what they wear on their feet (for fashion and function) as us sneakerheads do.

I guess you'd prefer we go back to the days of everybody running around in all white shoes for home and all black shoes for away.

I've done that for the past 2 games. I have a voice, why not use it?
I'm a sneaker head IN REAL LIFE and I still can't sympathize with you guys. I don't know any sneaker fanatic irl who cares about digital shoes on digital avatars.

ITS JUST A PIXEL, your fingertip is bigger than a 2K shoe.

Like what? Play dress up with my digital basketball players?
Since when did being a sneakerhead become the equivalent of women's fashion? Either you are some backwoods redneck or have been living under a rock since MJ entered the league. Every major basketball media outlet showcases the latest sneakers of NBA players in some form or fashion. Once again, if this isnt a big deal to you why come into a thread to talk ish over the internet? Why troll a thread on a topic that means 0 to you?

No need for you to get defensive just because others don't have the same desire to play dress up.
Talk about tailing off into semantics lol

Anyway, like I stated in my previous post, I'm not even a sneaker head. I couldn't tell you 1 pair of jays from the next. But my point is that having correct gear is a part of presentation. The principle is the same. 2K is trying to replicate the NBA. How is having shoes that real NBA players wear in the game NOT a part of that? That's my point. To me, people expressing frustration over shoes not being correct is the same as players faces not being correct, or a court being the wrong color, or animations looking bad. All of that encompasses the purpose of NBA 2K video games: to replicate the NBA in video game world as best as possible. That includes EVERYTHING.

If shoes don't mean anything to you why post in the thread? Go do something more constructive with your time.
My only issue was the "utter refusal" stuff. As if they are just thumbing their noses at folks that care about shoes. You see I acknowledge it as a legit gripe. I just think some folks go a bit nuts about it.

Re: Anybody else bothered by 2K's utter refusal to get sneakers right?

^^^ I look at it differently.

90% of the players in the league are not on shoe deals, they can wear addidas one game and nike the next. For 2K to go through all these players and assign the shoes they were its pointless. I agree that the MAIN guys who have shoe deals should have appropriate shoes but everyone else ? who cares ?

you can still go in and edit their shoes to real ones.

ALSO you are making a point about accurate shoes = realism, but there are people in this thread and forum who are not even asking for accurate shoes ... they just want more shoes ! which has nothing to do with accurate presentation, that's just dress up.
