Right, it was in a patch:

Quote:
Improved AI logic for boxing out, ensuring that players go into boxout situations when appropriate.
2k, do this again, and keep it in there please.

Another note from 2k11's patch details:

Quote:
Big men with low vertical ratings will now jump the appropriate height when rebounding and contesting shots.
This too!!

I mean toning down offensive rebounds for the CPU automatically tune the players on your team to box out accordingly... No? At least that's what is happening on my regular games vs. the CPU... Sliders fixes everything in this game as far as gameplay outside of MyCareer mode... I agree it needs to be fixed, but worrying about unrealistic gameplay is the least of your concerns...

I put CPU rebounding at 0.... Works perfect IMHO.

Pessimism doesn't equal whining. Why is it that anytime somebody says something that's not sunshine and rainbows about the game you're quick to say they're whining?

Anyway, i'm glad to hear that they at least realize it needs to be fixed(don't know why they would release it like that anyway though.). Hopefully they'll be able to patch it correctly. If they do, it'll be a HUUGE deal to me. It'll make the game soo much better.

"I put CPU rebounding at 0.... Works perfect IMHO."

Eh, the problem with that is, then you feel too overpowered on rebounds. It's not that people don't want the CPU to get any rebounds and just want to out rebound them every time, they just want rebounds to be grabbed realistically.

We're just being realistic and wanting to make sure the devs understand the root cause of the problem.

Ronny simply said offensive rebounds would be toned down without mentioning box outs. We can tone down rebounds ourselves with sliders but it's clearly not the right fix-- so it's cause for concern. We've seen superficial fixes by 2K in the past that didn't address systemic issues, and as a developer, I've been guilty of that myself in instances when I didn't fully understand a problem.

We just want to make sure 2K understands the situation and gets it right. I have some confidence in them because they've fixed it right before. The 2K11 patch was fantastic. At the same time, the problem comes back every year, so it's kind of a wash.

I will say that I have some hope that 2K13 will be incredible after the patch-- because there are really only a few major issues, and they're very obvious ones that are easily reproducable so a fix is likely, that is, if 2K is as devoted to postgame support as they were on 2K11:

1. Lack of AI boxouts.
2. Lack of contact/defense in the paint and ease scoring with post moves.
3. Lack of contact/defense on drives.
4. Broken playcalling/CPU fastbreaks on every rebound/high CPU points in paint.
5. Open shots (and shots in general) going in too often. This one is probably easily remedied by sliders, but it'd be good for that to be part of stock gameplay.

A few tweaks, a few bug fixes, and we're pretty much gold.

Complaining about paying FAKE money that you earn while PLAYING the game, to pay for IN GAME THINGS.

We've really come to this?

Man, you must really hate RPGs.

This, boxing out is just one of the reason the CPU is getting so many rebounds, the other is the fact that the AI just allows the CPU into the paint without defending or at least sticking with their man.

That's great news. I was ready to smash an otherwise awesome game.
