How do I perform signature layups?

I'm having a problem right now. I'm nice at 2k. The thing whch for the life of me i can understand is, HOw in the world do you perform signature layups? I'm spending VC on every layup package, and i can't seem to pull of any signature layups. Is there a thread, or a tutorial video on how to pull these off? Because i've searched everywhere and asked some of the best hoopers on 2k, and they all say that they have no clue how to pull off these signature layups. Please tell me 2k didn't put them in the game just for show and tell...any info on this matter would be much appreciated.

Are you saying you bought a layup animation? Whenever you buy an animation (whether layups, jumpshots, dunks, pregames etc) you have to equip it by going to "equip upgrades"

trust me, they're equipped bro....there's just not coming out in game...Jamal crawford "juke move", the rondo ball fakes, the chris paul btw the legs layup,the steve nash one-handed layups, he derrick rose one-handed floaters....none of them come out....is there a tutorial for these moves?

I know Crawford has a couple fake moves, i don't really use anyone else's layups, but you have to hop step then layup for his regular layup then hop step double tap layup for his fake moves. Be sure to double tap and hold until you release the shot or you'll travel.

does a defender have to be in front of you? Which hand should the ball be in when you perform this hop step/double tap layup motion?
is it available to do if there is no defender in front of you? More details please.

I think for the Crawford one you have to have a defender or two for it to activate, then I believe it's right stick toward ball hand with the ball in your right hand.. make sure no turbo either. could be wrong though, not at home to practice
