New to the game: Help

I know not a thing about basketball other than Michael Jordan made a Disney movie and one of them had aids. I'm more of a contact sports fan; football, rugby, UFC, hockey occasionally.

But I decided to buy NBA 2K12 because I've gotten bored with all of my games. I'm using CPU play calling and it keeps telling me to set up a pick or screen and stuff. How do I do this? The controller settings says its L1 but nothing happens?

I'm playing a SG in My Player mode.

Is there a tutorial thread on OS?

Yep do the in game tutorial which will break down the basics for you. Once you get that basic stuff down, it will be much easier for people on here to answer your questions.

The controls of this game get deep though so it's going to take you some time to get the hang of it, keep at it though only one way to get better.

Association Mode -
How do I get my team to run plays? I set it to where I only play PG and when I go up and it shows me to pass to the SF or SG or whatever the play may be, they just pass it back to me instead of going on with the play. I have the run set play slider all the way up and I never call for the ball.

My Player -
What are some simple signature settings with easy timing? Like the shots and all. I find Larry Byrd's FT Shot to be easiest but I don't know what jump shots are best.

Re: New to the game: Help

So I started over with a new fantasy draft. I really like how easy the game is for a noob. How it shows the plays and who you should guard and all. Last basketball games I played we're NBA Live 06 and it didn't have any of this.

I'm the Wizards and this is my roster.

Starter PG Nate Robinson - 74ovr
Starter SG Ray Allen - 80ovr
Star SF Kevin Durant - 92ovr
Starter PF - Serge Ibaka - 75ovr
Starter C - Nenê - 77ovr

Sixth Man PG Jeremy Lin - 57ovr
Role Player SG Aaron Afflalo - 71ovr
Role Player C Zyorunas Ilgauskas - 64ovr
Bench Warmer SF Al Thornton - 66ovr
Bench Warmer PF Hakim Warrick - 62ovr
Bench Warmer PG Eugene Jeter - 63ovr
Bench Warmer PG Acie Law - 59ovr

I've heard of all of my starters and Lin. That's why I got them. We play good but kind of suck at scoring when Durant takes a breather. I'm going to draft a better scoring SF.

Being older now, it was very easy to understand basketball. The gameplay is simple and has lots of helpers, I didn't even know they ran plays. I literally had no idea how to play basketball when I had 06.

What are the average scores? I feel mine are low compared to the simulated games. I won my first game 76-58 then the second 88-84.
