How good are the Cats?

As of now the bobcats sit at 7-5, but are they playing better than they should?

What are your opinions?

This is probably going to get moved into the NBA Thread, but while it's here, as a Bobcats fan, I'll answer.

They are playing over their head, but only slightly. They are not utterly devoid of talent like last year would have you believe. Last season was an anomaly, caused by a young team playing in a shortened season, injuries, and an apathetic coach with one foot out the door into retirement.

This season, acquiring Sessions and Gordon was exactly what the team needed. Two veteran leaders coming off the bench to ensure that the second unit does not come unglued. Their presence has already been felt, as the Cats have won a couple of games in OT and a couple more in the 4th quarter, which they never did last year.

They are young and raw, but the talent is there. MKG, Sessions, Jeff Taylor, Mullens, and first and foremost Kemba are all very solid players who have the potential to become even more solid. Mike Dunlap has been an excellent coach, and has coach of the year potential. While it's obvious that the Bobcats won't be competing for a championship this season, I would not be shocked in the slightest if they got the 8-seed. I think that they are comparably or only slightly less talented than the following teams:

Toronto
Detroit
Milwaukee
Philadelphia
Cleveland
Atlanta

And they are outright better than:

Washington
Orlando

This.

Plus we've had one of (if not THE) easiest schedule in the league so far.
That all changes when we play the Thunder tonight.

Re: How good are the Cats?

they might be an 8th seed to late lottery pick-im hoping for worse since i wouldn't mind trying to get another high draft pick, plus if we get into the playoffs Chicago gets out pick and if Detroit does bad enough we won't get their pick that we got for Gordon and Portland's pick i don't know what circumstances we need to get that so basically, i don't want Charlotte to do to good but

Kemba Walker-Iverson like, but less chucking the ball up and more point guard in him, dude can penetrate to the lane with ease and can usually finish, good mid range jumper, only issue is his 3 pt game

Jeffery Taylor-GREAT DEFENDER already, compare him to Battier but younger, Can shoot the 3.

MKG-GREAT DEFENDER again, looks like he could be the next Pippen with a little Rodman mixed in, dude hustles like no other and can hit the boards like crazy...true definition of how effort alone can make you good, no jumper, athletically gifted, great blocker for a 6 ft 7/8 player.

Mullens-spreads the floor, can be deadly, usually not... inconsistent jumpshot, if he is knocking them down he scores 20-30, if he isn't, look for 12-16 a game, 7 footer, might get max contract/close to max contract deals this off season, his dirk esc skills while still being just 23 is so rare, he is a better defender then Bargani already/way better rebounder then either Bargani or Dirk ever was-he is the key to this team if they want to be a championship team in the future

Haywood-Good defender, long, good veteran, extremely cheap for his skill level, looks 4 years younger being in this Dunlap system

Sessions-possible 6th man of the year right now...playing great

Gordon-alright, off and on every other night

Henderson-look for him to take Gordon's role, or go back into the starting lineup, been injured during all this time. Underrated defender, great mid range game, great fade away-Kobe esc...

Bismack Biyombo-young, could be called useless offensively, has spouts on offense every few 10 games, alright rebounder, EXTREMELY long, 7 ft 7 wingspan, reminds people of Ben Wallace, unlimited ceiling defensively, offensively, has an alright hook shot, other then that he looks lost often

Team concept: Defense, out hustle teams, stamina, Defense, out run teams

The Charlotte Bobcats are an average to below average team that in 2 to 3 years could easily be a championship contender if they keep their young pieces. They have players all around that have extremely high ceilings. They win by out hustling players for loose balls. They are FILLED with high motor/off the chart work ethic players. Biyombo, Kemba, Taylor and MKG all if on any other team would likely be the hardest working players on the team other then Kobe, LeBron and Durant...

sorry if i made this a book, just wanted to get a short bio of the play styles of each player. This team shouldn't/i hope they don't make it to the playoffs this year. But look for them to just come out of nowhere like the Thunder did a few years ago and start playing like crazy. I doubt they keep up the winning like they are right now, but it really showed the potential of this team...
