yikes. i ran into a couple players last night that just played zone and packed the paint before i read this thread. mid range jumpers are still fine but 3 pointers are way off for me. it seems as though if theres ANYONE within vicinity of the shooter then it'll be a highly contested shot. i still hit a few threes but they'd come from a guy on that side of the court all by himself or off a pump fake.
i welcome the change but they have to do something about the zone then. it makes no sense for the 1-3-1 or 2-3 to be so strong against outside shooting. the other game i played, dude was beating me pretty good because i couldn't make a 3 pointer to save my life, i had no idea it was something that was changed. he played zone and tried to trap leaving wide open shooters in the corners that would miss bunny shots. he had protect the paint on so every time i tried to drive with stuckey the defense would collapse. if i dished it out to a shooter, you already know what would happen.
it was frustrating but i hope they continue to work on it since it seems like they're going in the right direction. id like to see them lower on-ball defense ratings for teams using the zone. players shouldn't be able to contest shots as well as they do when they are sprinting to close out on the shooter or are taking bad angles. its obvious people play a zone because they're incapable of playing man-to-man and the zone its much more powerful. in a game thats fully capable of looking like a real NBA game in the right hands, the zone is giving cheesers an even better chance at winning.
