In 08 when the Celtics just started the big 3 they were farvorites to win it all. The Lakers before the season were seen as a second round exit until they pulled off that heist for Gasol. 09 Magic were a suprise, which is why I didn't mention them. 10 Celtics weren't suprising they just had health questions. 2011 Mavericks were also surprise (even though I did call them winning around early January)

Just because no one on here called Dallas ( I didn't even here of Operation Sports until last year) doesn't mean no one didn't see them winning the coming. In the big picture a majority of people didn't see them coming though.

Let's look at the past half decade or so:

2008-Boston Celtics (no one saw them coming) vs. Los Angeles Lakers
2009-Orlando Magic (they were hardly accepted as an elite team) vs. Los Angeles Lakers
2010-Boston Celtics (an amazing run that no one expected) vs. Los Angeles Lakers
2011-Dallas Mavericks (projected by many to lose in the first round to Portland) vs. Miami Heat

The point is that albeit these teams did have "stars", there was an intangible factor that led these teams make these historic, epic runs. The point of this thread is to use creativity to come up with a group who can do the amazing.
I like the way the whole point of your thread is to make a team with, "no stars," that can win the championship, but the 4 teams that you named all had at least one star. Celtics had KG, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Magic had Dwight, Mavs had Dirk. Sure they may have been upsets and surprises but they all did have one star which goes completely against your purpose.

Let me clarify "stars". The reason why I decided to exclude this years and last years all-stars are because these are the players that are currently in style, much like a particular fashion. Calling them mainstream would be a little harsh, but you get the idea. If you go watch the Celtics, Magic, and most obviously, the Mavs, there was a certain culture that characterized these teams. Very different from today's Heat, Knicks, and up to some extend the Thunder. I'm not saying that these teams don't have culture, but the concept of being a team isn't as capitalized on as before.

For example, the difference between the championship Lakers in 09,10 and the lottery bound Lakers is not talent, but a sense of identity and team culture.

I asked for you to identify a group of guys that are talented yes, but based on what you've seen, come up with a group that can establish a "winning" culture. What kind of a culture? You decide.

Okay, I get you, that makes a whole lot more sense in terms of what you were saying about those 4 teams. I know that I can use players from different teams but the best example I can think of right now of a team with a winning culture without one of those upper tier all stars (the Kobes, Lebrons, KDs, Melos, CP3s etc.) would be the Spurs. Yes Tony and Tim were all stars this year but they are in no way huge stars. If you gave them another dynamic bench scorer (similar to what Jamal Crawford has been doing for the Clips) then I fully think that they'd be able to win it all.
