I want to begin a new Association as an incarnation of my beloved Seattle Supersonics but I am not sure of the best way to go about it. Creating a team doesn't give me a huge amount of court/jersey/logo options but I figure it may be the best option.

Is it possible to use the 95-96 Sonics but with a current roster? If that's the case then I guess I could use the official jersey/court/logo but the shorts will look a little skimpy!

Just after any advice from anybody who has attempted something similar.

Thank you.
There are bunch of retro rosters so in theory yes you could do that but you would need to do some roster editing yourself or ask for someone else to do it (though its really simple to add one team to the roster)

If that team is one of the retro teams that 2K put in themselves, then just go to customize league, and remove one of the current NBA teams and replace it with the Sonics. I would assume you'd pick the Thunder.

I create a Center (7'6) with all his attributes to 99 and put total scrubs around him and try and win that way or when I'm really bored I take a team like the Jazz or Kings and try and rebuild them without trades and free-agency, idk thats just me though..

for me, with all franchises in all sports it doesn't become fun until it is 'my team'. if i try and mimic all the RL changes, i dont have fun. i start comparing to RL and get upset if player X is playing better than player b who is an all star in RL. or if player X is killing it in RL and my player X sucks.

the best way to keep it fun, imho, is to not compare anything. to accept that your franchise is a total separation from RL. for example, a few seasons ago linsanity came our of nowhere. sometimes in my video games, players who are not as good in real life torch me for a ton of points. some people on this site blow up like "that player could never do that, 2k sucks!!!"

i just am glad that the unexpected happens. the less i compare to RL, the more i love sports games.

On a monthly basis - now - I check the league injury list and depending on the injury and age of the player, i'll make adjustments to their ratings.

If it's a season ending injury with a torn ACL then i'd make adjustments to their vertical, dunk etc etc...but only at decrements of five points. Their potential would take a decent hit, espescially if they're young and if it happens early in the season.

If they're older (28 +) with the same injury, then i'd lower their potential 15 points for every season ending injury and adjust other ratings accordingly.

Makes for interesting teams 2 to 3 years into an assoc...

Lots of good ideas here. I can't do 30 team control. It's a bit too frustrating for me editing rotations with the constant injuries. Plus I don't like drafting for the CPU. I like them to have some mind of their own. I like building the best team I can for myself but also making sure CPU teams stay competitive. I'll edit players every season because I'm not a huge fan of the progression system and I'll make a trade or sign a FA for some teams if it seems necessary. Some teams won't use their MLE so ill use it for them or some teams are stacked at guard but only have 3 bigs so I'll make a trade for them. I'll edit contracts too if I feel the CPU went a bit too far overboard for a player.

LeBron signed with Philly who was pretty good with MCW and Noel until he left in my last association and I found it funny that the Andrew Wiggins I created left Utah(Kobe, Irving, Noel) and signed with Philly and then LeBron left lol. But then LBJ left for a depleted Memphis team so I traded him to Cleveland since he went there IRL.

Another example. I traded Rondo out of Boston because they had no talent and weren't winning. Traded him to Houston who had Kawhi and a couple picks to give up.
