Unplayable without internet connection?

Has anyone tried to play 2k13 without an internet connection? Just got power back after hurricane Sandy, buy still no internet. Tried to play a game of 2k13 and it was atrocious. Really laggy, almost like the game was constantly trying to connect to 2k servers. Can anyone else confirm or deny this? I know its not any of my components because other games are running fine, namely Skyrim and any other steam games in offline mode.

Anyone else experience this?

I don't mean offline as in against the CPU. I mean without an internet connection

Can you clarify what you are asking? Your question and clarification seem to contradict themselves.

You don't need internet connection to play offline! Even for Steam.

Re: Unplayable without internet connection?

I didnt say it wouldn't run. I said it was stuttering and running crappy, almost like the game was continually trying to reconnect to the 2K server while playing.

I can confirm that the lack of internet connection (as I said from the Hurricane) was in fact causing this, as once my Fios was restored last night I played a game and everything was normal and smooth.

So in conclusion, if you arent connected to the internet, the game stutters and is basically unplayable, I'm assuming because the game is constantly trying to connect to the 2K servers. If you read my original post I think I made it fairly clear what the problem was.

Yeah it sounds really strange. You should go talk about this on Steam Forums.... maybe someone can help you better there. Good luck.

or you have internet now so it's all good. whatever.

Re: Unplayable without internet connection?

During Hurricane Sandy, the Internet was on and off for me, 2k13 wouldn't run at all, it stayed at a black screen and eventually didn't respond. Best thing to do is to turn off Wifi on your PC, so the game won't keep trying to connect.
