Do you need the code from the game when it is bought new to be able to download rosters?

I can get the game used for only $20 from this dude, but that won't come with the live365 code or whatever.

These rosters would give me a reason to sell 2k10. I love Live's game play and stats, but can't live without updated rosters and draft classes.

Is there a way to get this in a .ros file to transfer via usb? Or even transfer kit version?
