1. In my PMs with Marcus...he always talked basketball and how that was the focus for this series.

2. He's not a basketball guy? He told me he's been a hard core NBA gamer since day............so I don't know where you got that from.

3. 2K has tonnes of staff...Beluba left and Rob Jones said it wasn't such a big deal as they've got tonnes of people there working on their AI.

From what I've heard...the LIVE team is much smaller.

So, a key guy getting "moved" isn't exactly a postive...you can try and spin it all you like though. That's up to you.

I've just checked back on some PM's and Marcus mentions he's been here on Op Sports since almost day one...way back when the site first started almost and that he's been a massive basketball gamer + fan since the beginning.

You've tried to put a positive spin on all things LIVE since the game came out...but you're going a bit far trying to say "hey, it's not such a big loss...he wasn't a basketball guy and doesn't understand basketball culture".

I got the impression he knows a lot about the game...and I'm sure most of the fellas here who've gotten to know him a little bit would say the same thing. Let's not try and downplay the man in this thread by saying crap like "he doesn't know basketball culture".

I definitely got the impression he was...

If he wasn't...I hope they do put someone in charge who actually knows the game.

FIFA used to fail badly as they had guys who didn't know a thing about football (yes, it's called football..). It was only when they got real football people involved that the game started to improve.

I'd be interested in hearing more about this from Marcus. He's said the complete opposite of this to us at our community events. Marcus had been doing Live reviews as far back as '05.

I understand he has other interests (as if The People's Eyebrow in his avatar wasn't an obvious indication) but c'mon now. Acting like it's not a big deal that he's moving on? Please. If it were Beluba, it would be, "Oh, he wasn't there long enough to make an impact."

Its too bad that some people are leaving complaints in this thread.

Marcus, I usually don't buy Live, but with the impressions and thigns I've heard I will be picking this up sometime soon.

First, let's clear up what I said because you guys trip me out picking out the parts you want. I said that I didn't know if this was the case with Marcus.

Marcus did say that to me during an online game, and I wouldn't slander the man. It's possible that I may have misunderstood what he was trying to say so I would hope he would clear it up if I did.

Court, I am not some Live fan boy so please stop trying to make me out to be one. I never said that Marcus wasn't a big loss. I think that he is. I also mentioned that he was a brilliant developer. When I spoke about "people" not being in tune with basketball culture, I was speaking in general, not about Marcus specifically. I have a ton of respect for Marcus and what he has contributed to the Live Series. I also appreciate him being open to the community as well.

I'm positive about live on a lot of things because they have done a great job on gameplay this year and some people won't give them credit for it because they don't understand the game like they do 2K. The game is deeper than people give it credit for. I could say some positive things about 2K as well because I actually know more about 2K than I do Live. I am just fair and I call it like I see it.
