Was EA on crack when they designed the Historic Teams?

Honestly,

The rosters and ratings for the Historical teams in 06..and hell...every version prior to 06 are so ridiculously out of whack it's funny.

Half of the players that should be white are black, half of the players that should be black are white.

Just about every starter on many teams who ISNT a well known superstar is rated HORRIBLY.

Heck...just look at 94 Florida. Kevin Carter and Ellis Johnson aren't even in the high 80s...and they were both All American Caliber.

The overalls on many of these "classic" teams are like B-...the equivalent of a Northern Illinois.

These are suppose to be some of the greatest teams in college football history...96 Florida, 95 Nebraska, 71 Nebraska, etc.

You would think that EA would put a LITTLE effort into trying to get the rosters somewhat decent. It almost seems like they just slapped a number on a randomly rated guy and then said..."Here is 98 Tennnessee."

I think the OS "nation" should start a Historical Roster Project. Not for naming the historical teams, but for completely revamping the ratings.

I don't know a whole lot of course about 1936 Notre Dame, etc....but I do know a good bit about that 85 Auburn squad. And the 92 Bama squad.

Florida fans know a good deal about the Gator teams, as well as the Noles, and Cane all time great teams, etc.

If everyone from each region came together and came up with mutually compatible ratings, we could have one hell of a classic roster ratings file.

Then it would actually be FUN picking one of these teams to play your buddies with...instead of looking at the rosters and going, "WTF?!"

Just a thought.

I'd like to help out too, but those old rosters are hard to find. But if you happen to get a hold of some of them let me know and I'd be happy to help out. I've been a fan since 1990, and would be most helpful with the SEC teams.

Well, thanks to Mr. Tennessee, we have just about all of the names.

The bugaboo is the ratings. Other than Derrick Thomas, Bo Jackson, Archie Griffin, etc...I honestly think EA didn't give two flips about getting anywhere near the kind of accuracy they could have on these teams.

Most SEC fans could agree on ratings for teams like 92 Bama, 96 Florida, 98 Tennessee, 03 LSU, 85 Auburn, etc.

Same goes for Big 12, Pac 10, Big 10 for their respective conference greats.
