I like trying to make terrible teams marginally decent. It's just tough with only 1-star presitge. Even Washington State is tough to work with. Not terrible but only 1 star. Also enjoy downloading some created FCS teams and inserting them in place of some of the worse FBS teams. Such a great game.

Some guys like a challenge, and some want to have a shot at the championship year 1. I'm a "dynasty where I went to school" guy, so the Aggies are my choice. I think they're actually really intriguing this year.

For a smaller school that will take time to build up but has decent talent I'd point to a team like LA Tech. If you can have a few solid seasons and begin grabbing many 3 star and a couple 4 star recruits (mainly in your home state) it can become really fun after 3-5 years.

Do any of you mess with custom conferences at all?

Gotta give props for that; I wouldn't have the patience to build up a 1-star (or even FCS) squad. Maybe I'll give it a try though

While he's no Lynch, Drew Hare is definitely very similar to Lynch in play style. Very interesting how NIU evolved from being a run-first offense with guys like Garrett Wolfe and Montell Clanton under Joe Novak, to a power QB offense with guys like Lynch and Hare under the coaches they've had since.

My thing is, I like using average to bad power 5/former Big East teams (like UConn, my current dynasty as you can see in my sig.) I'm a stickler for realism and a challenge, and while it's fun building a team from a bad conference, it's just not all that realistic to build a complete powerhouse at a tiny school like Eastern Michigan. On the flip side, it's not a challenge to use a team like Georgia in my eyes, one that's already a perennial powerhouse.

I like using teams like Kansas, Kentucky, Rutgers, Wake Forest, teams that haven't had any good football history, but play in tough conferences and can be tough builds.

TBH, I've been eyeing teams like Vanderbilt, Illinois, Indiana, Rutgers, Purdue, Northwestern, and even BC early on in the project, but we'll see what happens. Hopeful to get it going in the Dynasty HQ again this fall, but we'll see how time permits.

The awesome thing is: we all have different 'things'. Some people build up 1-star/FCS schools, some build up mid-level schools (personally, I have been contemplating NIU), while others use a powerhouse. If this were 5+ years ago I would have the time to do a dynasty with a 1-star/FCS school. Unfortunately, discretionary time is something that doesn't always work in my favor. Some nights I could get two games in, then I may not pick up sticks for another two weeks. I need something to keep me more motivated - I don't have the time to wait seasons and seasons before contending. But that's just me.

Also, why I want to use Georgia, Mark Richt HAS to win a championship in his lifetime, right?

Oregon State WR Richard Mullaney has officially announced he will play at Alabama this year. Here's a link to it: http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports...nsfer-to-tide/
