Here you go, guys.
Salemchief’s PS2 AA Sliders for newbies and player like me who aren’t very good.
Adapted from Mudtigers and the aub’s AA Sliders:
Note: Ridicule these if you will, thumbjockeys. But I have three strikes against me:
1. I’m old.
2. My hand-eye coordination has ALWAYS been below the curve.
3. I don’t have time (family, job, my wife’s business that I help with, Boy Scout leader) to do a load of practicing. I like to jump right into my ND dynasty.
These may be too easy for you. If so, adjust where I’ve made notes. Read my explanations where noted. You may be better in some areas than I.
AA
9 minutes (I make A LOT of pre-snap reads. I motion, check my receivers’ routes, and look at the defense’s alignments. This year, with the “Jump Snap” feature, it’s absolutely essential that you vary your snap count. I average 70-75 offensive plays—the NCAA average. Games will, though, take about 1 ½ hours. Sorry).
Human Offense:
QB ACC 45 (needed for my incredibly slow route reading and bad timing. Discipline yourself not to overuse the deep ball, though).
Pass BLK 99 (I need all the help I can get with pass protection. I still get sacked, particularly from "in the zone" defensive players, or from warbling around too much in the pocket. With Brady Quinn—ND—I’m in the middle of the NCAA pack with sack totals. I DID mention that I stink, even with Pass Blk at 99).
WR CTH 70
RB Ability 40 (I don’t use many “special moves.” Heck, I’m doing well if I can get the RB pointed in the right direction. As well, you really need to use the right analog stick (press “up”) to protect the ball. There are a lot of fumbles in this game. Use that “ball protect” ESPECIALLY late in game, when you’re protecting a lead. The CPU loves to make you fumble then).
Run BLK 40 (DON’T TOUCH THIS ONE. If defensive players slide off blocks too quickly for your taste, move CPU DEFENSE BREAK BLK down one notch. If you mess with the HUMAN RUN BLK, running will become far too easy—even if you stink like me. And USE THE SLIDE PROTECTION feature. You HAVE to when the defense shifts to the side where you’re going to run. Flipping the play won’t work. On AA the CPU just cheats and flips its defensive alignment, too).
CPU Offense
QB ACC 30
Pass BLK 50
WR CTH 50
RB Ability 60
Run BLK 50
Human Defense (I don’t control any defensive players. I stink HORRIBLY at defense—always have. So I call the plays, and let the defense do its thing.)
Def AWR 25
Knockdowns 50
INT 5
Break Block: 20
Tackle 20
CPU Defense
Def AWR 80
Knockdowns 40
INT 10
Break Block 20
Tackle 35
SPECIAL TEAMS (from theaub’s AA sliders)
Human/CPU
FG Length: 50/30
FG Accuracy: 50/0 (I just plain stink at kicking. I need all the help I can get)
Punt Length: 40/60
Punt Accuracy: 50/15 (oh, I’m also abysmal at directional punting)
Kickoff Length: 55/55
Sub In/Sub Out: 80/85
Penalties: ALL MAXED EXCEPT: Holding (90), Clipping (90), and Unsportsmanlike conduct (0, so you can celebrate).
I hope these sliders help as a starting point for you.
Best,
Salemchief
