"Accurate" Special Teams Sliders (Extensive Testing)

I took a few hours this morning in an attempt to tighten up the 'realism' aspect of Special Team Sliders. The following levels were tested:

Heisman
All-American
Varsity

ST sliders don't seem to get the same love as game play sliders

Below you will see the results of these tests.

Some facts you should know:
  • HUM/CPU FG and Kickoff sliders were tested w/ Cal's Giorgio Tavecchio, who's KPW/KAC ratings of 84/84 fit the median rating of 84
  • HUM/CPU Punting sliders were tested using Auburn's Clinton Durst, who's KPW/KAC ratings of 87/84 fit the median rating of 87/84
  • While the FG PWR/ACC and PUNT PWR/ACC sliders directly effected the CPU, it didn't effect the HUM sliders what-so-ever, meaning any HUM sliders that are set to ZERO will rely on the in-game ratings, and YOUR stick skills.

These sliders transpired nicely to the upper, and lower echelon kickers/punters as well.

I hope this adds to your NCAA '10 experience:

HEISMAN:

HUM/CPU

FG PWR: 0/30
FG ACC: 0/45
PUNT PWR: 0/40
PUNT ACC: 0/50
KO PWR: 50/55

ALL-AMERICAN:

FG PWR: 0/35
FG ACC: 0/45
PUNT PWR: 0/45
PUNT ACC: 0/50
KO PWR: 50/65

VARSITY:

FG PWR: 0/40
FG ACC: 0/45
PUNT PWR: 0/50
PUNT ACC: 0/50
KO PWR: 50/75

Enjoy!

Edited the following, my bad:
  • While the FG PWR/ACC and PUNT PWR/ACC sliders directly effected the CPU, it didn't effect the HUM sliders what-so-ever, meaning any HUM sliders that are set to ZERO will rely on the in-game ratings, and YOUR stick skills.

Interested to hear some feedback regarding FG ACC.

I've missed my share of XP's!

After testing, these seem to work for me for the most realism (on heisman)

0/0
25/45
0/50
5/95
50/50

Interesting.

I'm curious to know which CPU kickers led you to decrease FG PWR and increase PUNT PWR?

I tested these with the most powerful kicker, and punter in the game as well, and was pleased to see what they were getting distance-wise.

Thanks for the response!

I'm sorry, I don't remember the exact players, but on 0 for FG power, the CPU (I was always against Army or MAC schools, never against star kickers) could still hit 50+ FGs and that should be the max (or > max) for the majority of college kickers, especially for small schools.

Punt power, I didn't test as much, but I never found any problems at default. The CPU accuracy is attrocious at 50 though.

You are probably correct in having punt power at 40, since you tested more, but I am sure that 0 at FG power for both gives the most realism.

Re: "Accurate" Special Teams Sliders (Extensive Testing)

I went to practice mode about 2 weeks ago and found that 0 or 5 for HUM FG ACC was very good too, 5 is still challenging and will cut down on your misses from 25-35 yds straight away, i used OK State'skicker (89/89) and he was about 85% from inside 30 yards, 75% from 31-45 and 45+ was about 60% which is pretty accurate given that I had an equal number attemptes from middle and both hashes (meaning 2x as meany from hashes) kicking from the Hash becomes ALOT more challenging and really makes FG's matter like they do in College football. THIS IS NOT THE NFL kickers cant just go out and nail a 49 yarder from the hash 80 percent of the time.

I also used MU's kicker with 10power and 5 acc settings (he is 94/76) and he was all over the place but could hit a 52 yarder. from straight away middle 52 yards he was 8/20 so I feel that is very accurate given his ratings
