Re: Best of the Best All American Slider Set

What fun, what fun! We could create for entertainment's sake a Frankenstein set and see what it actually plays like.

I'm at work, but would eagerly await a box score from evenly matched teams using the averaged sliders.

Kudos.

Thanks for the Kudo’s. I wish I could have stayed home today and played some Ncaa 13. As far as posting box scores, all it would tell you is how I play the game. Unless you play the same way I do the outcome and stats would probably be different. I might run the ball 30 times and another user might pass the ball 50 times. Then throw in the variability that EA hard codes into the game and it is even more unpredictable imho. However the real intent wasn’t to create a “Frankenstein set” but to show the similarities and differences between some of the more experience slider makers. For instance, if you look at Jarodd21’s Heisman sliders he keeps his user total avg. sliders between 22 and 23 for all his difficulty levels but increases the CPU difficulty from 33 (total avg. slider) on his Green set up to 77 on his Black set. Unless you are a seasoned veteran his Black set will give you a thorough beat down. Then if you look at Authentic’s Heisman sliders, his user total avg. slider is 36 and CPU is 35. But everyone is having great games with them. So I started thinking how is it that the sliders can be so different but play well for so many people. It depends on what you are looking for in the game and how you play the game. Is it more realism and less difficulty or a little less realism and more difficulty? By realism I am referring to less warping, better interaction between players, an option attack that actually works, but not necessarily statistics.
Then look at the All American sets. The average QB accuracy is 20. The lowest slider is 5 and the highest is 35 for the user. So 20 would give you a good starting point to make a slider set and adjust to your liking. I don’t think there is a substitute for actual game testing to make a slider set. To me the more people that test and the different teams that are used narrows the set into a set that works for more people. But then the set is somewhat biased towards the skills of the individuals that tested the slider set.
For some reason this year’s game just doesn’t feel right to me. I have played on various difficulty levels and it seems like the deep ball is there almost every time. This is probably why I can’t settle on a slider set. If I want a really good challenge I use Jarrod21’s red set and use ask coach for offense and defense. I don’t control anyone on defense, punt returns, nor kickoffs. I only use the QB and RB on offense and don’t take control of the WR after the catch. To me that evens the playing field for the user against a suspect AI system. But then I have the CPU trying 60 yard field goals and other anomalies. So I guess it really comes down to the user plugging in a slider set and playing at least 3 games to determine if the set works for them or not.

This actually looks really close to the AA set I was tweaking. Only thing I might disagree with is the HUM pass rush. I'd personally keep that to maybe 50, but I'll try it out.

Re: Best of the Best All American Slider Set

So I've been using these the past few games in my UTSA dynasty and they feel great. The only issue is that HUM rushing still feels too easy. But then again I haven't found a set where it's tough anyway, so maybe it's no fault.

Only thing I did was raise HUM pass coverage (40 to 50) because I was being ranked last in the country in pass defense.

Sounds great! Thanks for checking them out!

Re: Best of the Best All American Slider Set

ever since you made this thread and i adjusted that spreadsheet to get the averages on AA as well, i have had some great games on AA.

i pounded USC with ND 48-20, then played at USC and got beat 31-16. few other games just like those two!!

then i had a weird one lol, i was Ohio U on the road at Ohio State.. i won 38-20!! it was a fun game though, since im just an average football gamer i was all fired up, ha. i want to replay that one and see how it would play out a 2nd time. but in that game, OSU's line was horrible and Miller was just a train wreck for some reason.

Sent you a PM. Sounds like you are having some variety in the games. I updated the All American Sliders with MKHarsh33's version 8 set. I also updated the Heisman Sliders with Authentic's new Slider Set.

Re: Best of the Best All American Slider Set

After talking with Jarodd21 he had a great idea of taking the average of his 4 slider sets and making it one set. Then averaging it with Authentics and Matt10's set. The numbers do look intriguing.
