Any Given Saturday: HFA Sliders

After testing and tweaking various sets, I've come up with one of my own. I've taken a different approach from many of the slider makers, because what I deem important, others may not. One thing I've never understood about most of the sets is turning Home Field Advantage off. I get it, it makes the players play more true to their ratings, but college football is about HFA! It's what separates the college game from high school or the NFL.

My goal for this slider set was to create a challenging experience. You should not be going 11-1 with Ball State. Period. You should not go in to Bryant-Denny Stadium and beat Alabama without playing the most perfect game you've ever played. I think I'm very close to finding that perfect balance. Bear in mind that I'm still testing some things here, and that some tweaks might be made to better enhance the gameplay.

Off/Def/User Skill: Heisman
Injuries/Fatigue: Off
Quarter Length: 8-10, up to you.
Game Speed: Normal
Min Speed Threshold: 40 (thanks to the guys on Charter's thread)
HFA: ON
Ice The Kicker: Up to you, I leave it on.

Penalties: Thanks to TylerHL, I stole most of these from his BYU Dynasty
Offsides: 60
False Start: 60
Holding: 52
Facemask: 5 (creates fumbles)
OPI/DPI: 50
KR/PR Int: 45
Clipping: 50
Intentional Grounding: 80 (best value imo. I've tried 50, 79, 83, and 99)
RTP: 50
RTK: 35

Sliders: USER/CPU
QBA: 5/35
Pass Block: 45/45
WR Catch: 25/40
RB Ability: 35/45
Run Block: 5/60
Pass Coverage: 40/35
INTs: 35/30
Rush D: 5/60
Tackling: 30/40

Special Teams Sliders have not been changed except for Punt Accuracy to 100

Highlights of Set:
Working Screen game (WR/Bubble Screens)
A good offensive line will make a difference (time to throw, run lanes open)
Challenge. You aren't going to cake walk through ANY game
Drives stall for both teams!
FUMBLES
Injuries (Most not long term though)
No Cheese Plays

Good luck finding cheese plays with this set. I haven't found any. That said if you would like some house rules to make the game even more difficult let me know. I will be posting box scores from games I play. I hope you guys enjoy these sliders!

Re: Any Given Saturday: HFA Sliders

In my first game I traveled to Tuscaloosa and got demolished by Alabama with Indiana. Alabama is rated 97 OVR, 97 OFF, 97 DEF. Indiana 79 OVR, 84 OFF, 76 DEF. We had a decent start, but the fumble 6 was a huge turn. 2 plays later on offense I threw a pick and Bama put up 14 points in like 30 seconds. I struggled to stop the run, but a lot of the big runs came on missed tackles by me. This set will require you to play sound defense! You will have to take on blocks, fill gaps, and take a good angle to make tackles! Arm tackles will rarely bring down the ball carrier. Loved the speed thresh at 40.

Re: Any Given Saturday: HFA Sliders

Didn't realize playing an FCS team left you with none of their player stats at the end. Anyway, just played this game with the slider adjustments noted in bold in the OP. Even though the game was close, I never felt out of control. I made a lot of mistakes, but FCS West just wasn't talented enough to take advantage. If I don't have 3 turnovers this game is a huge win.

First game was a ton of fun. I played as Baylor and owned the 4th quarter.
