There are several types.

1) Conference Challenges - Basically playing a conference all-star team. The easier conference you play on freshman. The BCS conferences are on All-American.

2) Bowl Challenges - There are 4 different sequences of 5 games. You get a pack for finishing each of the 4 sets. Your team has to be rated high enough to qualify to play.

3) Weekly Challenges - These vary, there are four different ones right now. One rewards a pack.

4) Heisman - There are several of these. You can not play them unless you complete a collection for the player.

Pretty much all of the games reward coins.

Nice. Thanks. I've never played UT in any other game, but putting together iconic players in college football sounds awesome. I'm glad EA has weekly and long term challenges to keep the mode exciting. I'm kind of surprised so many people are uninterested by this mode. I can see this being the mode I play until rosters come out, and even after rosters come out to take a break from dynasty.

The challenges look interesting. But just wondering, if I don't have XBOX live will the challenges be enough content for me to competently build my team and sustain them?
