So with me being new to the whole ultimate team thing, when I put cards up for auction what happens to them if no one bids on them??

They return to your active roster.

You will get a message saying if it sold or not

Does it still charge you the auction fee? I've never actually sold anything on the AH

Yes. The fee is deducted the moment you post the auction.
