Re: How to I'm doing Conference Realignment in NCAA 11

Here is how I'm doing my re-alignment OD:

The PAC 10 will be the old BIG 12 minus Colorado and Nebraska.

The BIG 12 will be the PAC 10 plus Utah and Colorado

The ACC will be the BIG 10 plus Nebraska

The BIG 10 will be the ACC minus Duke.

MWC will lose Utah and gain Boise State.

WAC will lose Boise St. and gain Tulane

Conference USA will see Souther Miss. move to the West Division and then add Duke to the East Division.

Yes, the conference names won't describe locations very well and the conference championship games will be all over the place, but I think it will make for some interesting matchups.

Anybody got any feedback / improvements? or notice something I've missed?

I think chaos is the only thing I can manage to think at this point. Complete and utter confusion and chaos.

I'm liking this methodology. I had a very similar idea, but this one works much better. Only issue is conference championship and bowl bids, but I can get over those small matters.

EA should add an update that moves Nebraska to the Big Ten after the 2010 season in Dynasty, and the rest of the teams to their new conferences after their 2011 season, like they did adding the Houston Texans after one year of franchise in Madden 02.

This seems the best of the lot to me - the BCS conferences stay in the BCS, so the number of bowl bids should be about right, even if the actual bowl affiliations change. I'm not concerned about the location of championship games - I'd much rather see the Big 10 have a championship game and play in the wrong place than to have that not in the game.

This is close to what I'm going to do. I've played around with this in '10 by simming 10 years or so and I like it. The main difference is that I didn't want aOSU, Michigan, and PSU in the same division as this causes the strength of the conference to tilt way too much to the south. Instead I did this:
North: PSU, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana
South: aOSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, MSU, Minnesota, Illinois

The main reason I put aOSU and Michigan in the south is because Texas and TAMU always play the last game of the year as do aOSU and Michigan so I was able to swap those teams for each other.

This is pretty good. The 2nd biggest thing that I don't like about how I planned to do it (other than the Big 10 champ no longer going to the Rose Bowl) is that the Big 12 still has Colorado (since the old Big 10 has 11 slots) and the Pac 10 is missing Colorado and Utah and Boise is still in the WAC. I hadn't thought of taking the CCG from the ACC and using it for the Pac-10 (by doing Big 10 <-> ACC and Big12 <-> Pac10). I don't think I'd like taking away the CCG from the ACC so I guess I'd have to decide if I'd prefer it to go to the ACC or Pac 10. I do like the fact that I can get the new Pac 10 correct and the Big 12 correct and getting BSU into the MWC to play against TCU.

I'll have to fire up a new '10 dynasty to try this out. It's very important to me that aOSU and Michigan play in the last game every year. Does anyone know which ACC teams do this?

I did this last night in NCAA '10 and ran into an issue that I didn't notice when I only swapped the B10 <-> B12. The ACC has a lot of OOC rivalry games (Clem/SC, FSU/Fla, GT/UGA, etc). This means that, when the Big 10 teams are moved into the ACC, they inherit these games. So now you'll have an annual (insert name of Big 10 team that was swapped in for GT) vs. Georgia game, but Georgia won't ever play GT again. This will also really affect ND since they'l never play USC again and instead they'll play the Big 12 team that got swapped in for them. This also affects the ND/Big 10 rivalries (which will happen even if I only do a B10/B12 swap) since they play MSU, Mich (I'll be Michigan so I can manually add this game back in every year), and Purdue every year.
