Re: Scrap the OVR Rating!

Or at least stretch them more so 90 is the highest we see.

That would be idiotic. Way more casual fans buy this game than hardcore fans, and they would hate that. However, if they made it an option, that wouldn't be a bad idea.

I think it should be stretched but a 90 cap is a bit much. I was thinking this thougt:

99-95 Elite, Elite (Tebow, Suh)

94-90 Elite (McCoy)

89-85 Very Good (LaMichael James)

84-80 Good

I know this is completely off topic, but I'm shocked to see LaMichael James rated below Colt McCoy.

Re: Scrap the OVR Rating!

I say when you spend $300 plus, for video game entertainment, you are hardcore.

We got to stop being intimidated about having depth in a game.

Many times those that complain about having such depth, are the ones that come on the boards asking what's the best Roster/Slider Set to download.

They don't want depth, but don't mind downloading others hours/days of hard work with rosters/slider sets to bring out more depth in the game.

NCAA already uses its own system of OVR at the different levels.
On a Team
Starter
2nd Team
Etc...

Conference (All-Conference)
1st Team
2nd Team
Etc...

Country (All-American)
1st Team
2nd Team

Then various Trophies decide who is the best player at each position.

That's 3 levels that establish the top/best players at each level.
This method is basically a Bronze, Silver, Gold rating system also.
Bronze = OVR on Team (3 levels are starter, 2nd team, back-up)
Silver = OVR in Conference (3 levels are 1st team, 2nd team, Honerable Mention)
Gold = OVR in Country (2 levels are 1st & 2nd team)

My point is that a system of OVR rating for players is already established, but when you try and re-invent the wheel, you get what we have now.

Re: Scrap the OVR Rating!

This would be great..They should at least make an optional setting.

FOG = ON
No Ovr ratings are being shown.

FOG = OFF
Same as todays.

Better yet, why do some of you need the OVR rating so badly? If it's so idiotic to have that option, then why make a monumental deal about it? Your elite recruiting skills shouldn't take a dive, right? Again, an option to turn it off in OD would be ideal. If you need it so badly, you can simply leave it on. It would be a nice addition IMO and would be very easy to implement.

Frankly I would worry about more important aspects if I were you. Some of those screenshots look very unrealistic since Miami has fans in the stands.

Re: Scrap the OVR Rating!

Anyone willing to come to a forum to discuss NCAA 12 should be considered "hardcore." But there are plenty of people who buy NCAA and never download rosters, or talk about cheese plays, etc. They just want to play the game.

Which is why options are great. Honestly, I use the OVR rating as a base guideline. It gives me an at-a-glance look of what I can expect in general. That being said, there are countless times where I place certain players ahead of higher OVR players because of position-specific attributes.

For years, I've had issues with the CPU messing with my rosters. In the past, I was at odds with a game whenever it would auto-arrange my entire depth chart for me. And of course, it valued the OVR rating over anything else. This always caused issues for me when I simmed. I had teams that I could play very well; But the CPU couldn't.
