When you get a recruit to commit...

Do you take him off the board? I just leave them on; will taking them off cancel their offer/all the work I put in? Also, I have recruiting board and schollarship offer assistance off, so if I leave time to recruit left over at the end of each week, does the cpu automatically use that to call the recruits I didnt manually do myself, or is that time wasted?

Once they hard commit u can't remove them. The excess time is forfeited if assistance is turned off.

his tendency will flip?

Oh sorry, got ahead of myself there. He has to stay on the board if he commits.

He's correct about the fact that you can't remove someone that's committed to your school from your board.

He's incorrect about forfeiting left over time. There's 3 assists that do just what they say:
  • Allow the CPU to make scholly offers
  • Allow the CPU to set up visits
  • Allow the CPU to add and/or remove people from your boards.
Even if you have all of those turned off, the CPU will still call the players on your board (and only those on your board) if you don't use all of your time. I don't know how it allots the time though.

An easy way to check this is when you've got someone on your board where you have such a big lead the other teams ignore him, but you aren't 100% yet. Have 10 guys total on your board (so that each one gets a full hour). Let's say you lead on a guy by 700 pts and you don't call him. Sim to the next week and you'll see that your 700pt lead has grown by a lot because the CPU called him for you and no other teams are talking to him.

He is correct about forfeiting if assistance is off. What u just said happens to recruits on your board you havent talked to even if you use up all your time for the week. i.e. 1hr a piece on ten recruits but five total on your board, you can still move up on those other five players list just by having them on your board. This was mentioned in a recruiting blog for last years game on the ea site. It's a very helpful tip to add some three stars and lower to your board but not spend a single min on them while you pursue the big fish and still make progress

Having any excess guys on your board diminishes the probability of getting a 2x call on the others as the prob goes from 3/10 to 3/15 if you get 3 2x for that week.

Personally I think this outweighs any benefits from just having them on your board.

If you plow 60min into 10 recruits at a time, you'll in all likelihood have 15-20 recruits by seasons end and be setup for the offseason recruiting.

The points you get just for having a recruit on your board is small. I've never seen guys on my board that I don't talk to (after using up all of my time) go up by more than 40 points. I track this because I'm a nerd and have a spreadsheet where I track my gains/losses for every week of every season. The boost you get by letting the CPU call your guys (with all recruiting assistance turned off) is way more than 20 points.

IE. recruits 18, 20, 23, and 26 below are examples of guys that I never talked to (except for offering #26 a scholly in week 1), but still gained a few points weekly just for being on my board (and no other CPU team was talking to them either).

Re: When you get a recruit to commit...

Here's the proof of my point. This is the #1 guy on my board right now in week 4.

You can see that he's 81% interested in me. I have all CPU assistance turned off (as I always do). I then simmed ahead 1 week without using any of my recruiting time.

This is what he looked like after 1 week without me personally calling him:

You can see that I shot up to 92% on him which is a large jump (way more than just a 20 or 40 point gain). Again, I didn't call him myself so all of those points came from the CPU calling him despite the 3 CPU assistance options being turned off.

Then, for final proof, I went back to my save @ week 4 (81%) and then used my entire 10 hours on other guys, but didn't call the pictured recruit. I simmed to week 5 again, and this is what he looked like:

This time he only gained 2% instead of the large 11% jump. This is because I didn't have any time left so the CPU couldn't call him.

In summary:
  • When I left time on the board, this recruit gained 11% interest (because the CPU, with all assistance turned off) called him for me)
  • When I used up all of my time (not leaving any for the CPU) and didn't speak to him, he only gained 2%. This 2% is the small boost that recruits get just for being on the board, but since the CPU didn't have any time left over to call them, they didn't and I didn't get the big jump that I would've gotten if I (or the CPU) had spent an hour on him.

You can easily do the same experiment to verify it for yourself.
