Offseason Recruiting (Online Dynasty)

Hey guys! Longtime lurker finally posting here with a question about offseason recruiting -- It's for an OD but I'm not sure if that makes a difference...

Anywho, there's 4 users (including me) in the dynasty. We're in the conference championship week and I'm not sure what to do for offseason recruiting. This is our first season and I didn't get a chance to experiment in an offline dynasty. From what I've read, teams get 10,000 points (or some number that's higher than the regular season) and if you want, you can dump all your points into one guy if you so desire.

My concern is I only have 9 guys committed heading into the offseason. I have 7-10 guys still on the board that I'm number 1 on. I'm not sure what to do with the points. If these players are on a computer teams board, are they automatically going to get the max number of points, or does it depend who is on their board as well?

Basically my question is what should I do as far as a strategy? Maybe pick 2, 3, 4 guys and just go after them with all the points? Or something else? Thanks!!

I'm not an expert, but I have screwed up the off-season recruiting before :-) My advice would be to go after no more than 5, fewer would be better. I would spread the points in a fashion that reflects your current lead. So a guy you lead by 3,000 doesn't need as many points as a guy you lead by 500. If your lead on all the recruits left is not that big, I'd really suggest you go after 3 hard. The reality is you won't get all 9 or anywhere near that. Just focus on the most important ones. I know it hurts when you've only signed a handful to this point.

Note: if you leveled up your coach during the season you may have as many as 15,000 points to allocate. That might allow you to go after another player or two. But you won't have less than 10,000 in any event

Yea limit it to 3-5 players. You shouldn't be able to allocate the points until after bowl season though, not during conf champ week. Really frustrating thing is when one of the players you use 2k or more points on not only doesn't commit to your program, but also fails to commit anywhere. What a waste of points lol

Thanks for the responses! Yeah, sorry if I made it seem like I thought I can start the recruiting now...definitely know it doesn't start until after Bowl Season, was just giving some back drop into where I was

You need to look at the lead that you have. Then, pick 3 or 4 recruits (5 will probably be too many). Allocate those points based on the importance of the recruit and the lead/deficate that you have on the recruit.

Not guaranteeing success, but here is my typical rules for off season.

+3000 lead, 1,000 recruiting points should get the commit
2000 lead, 2,000 recruiting points should get it done
1000 lead, 3,000 points is pretty safe
If you want to be pretty sure you can overtake a battle that's relatively even, throw down about 5k
7,000+ should get you a pretty good rally even if you're a good bit behind.

1) If you have Letter of Intent unlocked (in the 3rd tier of the recruiting tree), it will give you more points in the offseason. If you fully rank it up, it will give you 15,000 points to spend.

2) Also keep in mind how the the CPU recruits. They throw all their points into "needs" positions. For example, if they need a QB to fill out their roster, they will throw all their points into their top choice QB. If they need 2 positions (a QB and WR) they will split their points into 2 top choices.

3) If you fighting against users for players, you just have to determine which players you REALLY want.

I'll say this, by time you get to the offseason, be prepared for some heartbreak. It's a random crapshoot in that final week as to who you will get because there is no limit to what the CPU can do.

You may have a 100 point lead on a player and land him against a CPU team who didn't invest any last second points. You may have a 10,000 point lead, figure he's safe, invest no points, only to see Texas invest 15,000 points and you lose him.

Basically, it feels like national signing day with recruits making last second choices as to where they want to go.

Is there a way of seeing other teams needs?
