Recruiting an athlete question

First of all, im new to the forums. Looking to get a question answered. In ncaa 13, i recruited this stud athlete to play qb. I redshirted him, only to have him transfer at the end o that season, although i promised him the starting job. So, on ncaa 14, does anyone know if this is an issue? I have an absolute stud athlete i would like to redshirt. Currently, he could play qb or a db. I have a good qb right now that i would be losing by the time this guy has finished his redshirt. I just dont want to redshirt and lose him!

I haven't seen this personally, I would say it could always happen, but since there are no promises this year, you have that on your side. If he's such a stud tho I'd find away to get him on the field unless your playing witha power house team

Re: Recruiting an athlete question

I will backup Beekay, I have not seen a player transfer because I red shirted them. The transfers in NCAA 14 seemed to be based on depth chart, home sick, or a coach leaving. I almost always red shirt everyone unless the freshman is within a couple of points in his position skill ratings to an upperclassman. The only transfers I have lost have been when I first take over a team or some 3rd stringer who is behind guys with 2 or more years of eligibility. I also don't think losing an OC/DC matters at all just if a head coach leaves some player will leave.

Yeah without promises this year you most likely wont have this problem, but this is also the reason he transferred last year. If you promised him the starting position and then redshirted him after making the promise he probably wasnt too happy and left.

Re: Recruiting an athlete question

I would seriously consider getting him on the field and forgetting about redshirting him. This same exact thing happened with me for an ATH that I had playing runningback. You probably will be okay but for me it made me have to live with a 72 OVR runningback instead of the 84 OVR he was

I've definitely seen RSing guys transfer in '14. Below is the list of guys leaving early after 2013 in my 12 person OD. Everyone one of the true FR on this list (bolded) was RSing but decided to transfer.

By my count that's 8 guys across 12 teams.

Re: Recruiting an athlete question

I never did this before but one thing you CAN do is save before advancing to players leaving, then reloading your dynasty over and over until he doesn't transfer.

Re: Recruiting an athlete question

i have another athlete question.....

are athletes good at positions on both sides of the ball or just one? i've recruited multiple athletes, and all they seem to be good at only tail back or receiver. if they're good at those positions, and they're "athletes," one would think they should be pretty good at corner or safety as well. am i the only one dealing with this?
