Re: Take Two and NFL Decline to Comment on NFL 2K Game

I wish I could dig up my post in these very forums from the first year of EA-NFL exclusivity deal where I confidently stated we would never see another non-EA football game. It's amazing how many doofuses here at that time were celebrating the deal (!).

Of course, being right about that plus $5 would just about get me a small coffee at Starbucks.

We have known this too. So we are where we have been, waiting to see what happens when this exclusive sim license expires. By the way EA, why are you so worried about competition.

To me that's not hunger from a sports video game company
We clown EA all the time but at least EA will show up and spar with you
2k just on that high of Euphoria from NBA 2k
And with that attitude will bite them in the end.
WE NEED THAT PS3/Xbox 360 hunger to return

Re: Take Two and NFL Decline to Comment on NFL 2K Game

'Following this report, Mike Straw of Insider Gaming tweeted something similar to what Sports Gamers Online was told. “After speaking with multiple sources,” Mike Straw tweeted, “it’s been reiterated to me that NFL 2K Playmakers is just the “first step” in the game release plan with the license between the NFL and 2K."

This is from four months ago. Who knows.

Blame needs to go to the consumers imo. Not enough people spoke with their wallets.

Too many people continued to purchase Madden when it was an absolutely abysmal game during the PS4/XBox One generation. And chose not to purchase APF2K8, for whatever reasons they had. Consumers have shown if given a choice between a poorly made but licensed NFL game and nothing, they'll choose to go with the NFL game. And won't give those same considerations to a non-NFL game.

The funny thing is people do crave options. It's odd to me seeing so many pit NCAA 25 against Madden 25, when NCAA 25 is essentially a refined NCAA-skinned version of Madden 24.

Even if 2K were to make an NFL game now, I think they'd essentially be where they were back in 2002-2005 versus Madden being the market leader at the time. The game would have to be demonstrably better to even stand a chance I'd think. I'd love to see another NFL2K game, but 2K shouldn't be expected to protect consumers from themselves.
