Talking Team Philosphy - Positional

I've seen some movement in player ratings when messing with these, but wow!

I'm playing as the Bucs and have Pure Passer as my QB preference (default Bucs philosophy). Garcia is anything but, so I changed to Field General and he went from an 82 to a 91!

If you got that albatross contract on the books, maybe budging a little from your My Way or the Highway attitude and you could turn that overpaid bum into a star player.

But does changing your philosophy on each position and thus increasing their overall rating actually translate onto the field? I'm curious to know this, because if this is the case, you could try to find whichever mold best fits your current talent and continuously change it, or you could pick what you want in a position and get players that fit your mold.

I was wondering that as well. I mean I guess he has more of the Field General qualities, but his game should still be similar. I don't think there is much of a Field General passing playbook...

The play on the field is still dictated by the individual ratings themselves, like Throw Power and Catching.

Overall is just that, how valuable overall is this player to the team.

Re: Team Philosphy - Positional

I'm pretty sure that this is like the Brett Favre situation with him being rated 78 vs 85. If I understand correctly, the overall rating has no significance except to show how valuable a player is to your team. So, Garcia's other ratings aren't changing(or are they?) and, thus, he is the same player as before but now he is more valuable to the Bucs because you changed your philosophy to fit him.

EDIT: Bah, Donny beat me to it.

Does this increase his trade value, or only his value to your team?

So this probably has the biggest impact for the cpu teams. It let's them hold onto guys that fit their system.

CPU teams rate players according to their philosophy/system.
