Okay, so I'm in year two, and aside from some problems stopping a godlike cpu passing game, I did alright in year one. I was able to put up a strong run game, and Barber made the pro bowl despite missing 2 game. I've got an even better OL (John Tait-B. Albert-O.Kreutz-solid 82 rated rookie-A. Barron) blocking for Barber, but I'm not getting anywhere. In 3 games, Barber has over 68 rushes for about 28 yards!
At first, despite trying to call a really balanced offense, I thought maybe it was because I was running too much. So even though the CPU was shutting it down without putting extra men in the box, I started to pass a lot more. But it has not done any good. Every run I call, left, right, up the gut, pitches, counters, etc, and in every situation, is getting blown up. I really don't think it's my play calling, because I mix things up pretty well. On 1st and 10, for example, I'm about 50/50, and usually pass out of my run formations (I forms, big single back sets) and mix in some play action. It about the same in other situation, but the formations change in different situations (more gun and multi-wr sets in long yardage situations.
Can anyone offer some help? I'm getting desperate. I'm a run guy, so this is getting really, really frustrating. I don't expect to average over 4.5 ypc everytime out, and it's nice to have a hard day running against a better defense, it's getting really ridiculous.
