WEEK 15

....VS....

ST PAUL, MINN:

BEARS 20 (5 -9).......VIKS 28 (11-3)

Either I have forgotten how to play...or the Bears were a much more improved team we faced earlier in the year (55-0). Viks QB N. Wyoming seems to be getting better each game going 20/30 for 285 yds. Driving the Viks down on the opening drive with a nice catch by Berrian to make it a early 7-0 lead for the Viks. The Bears came back with a TD with Olsen having a big catch to make it 7 - 7. Peterson broke a nice run on the Viks next series to make it 14 - 7 Viks. Bears would get a FG as the half ended to cut it 14-10.

Viks special teams get a turnover to start the 2nd half as the Viks get an easy td to make it 21 - 7. Viks hold again, but fumble the punt as the bears also get an easy TD to make it 21 - 14. Viks again drive behind the running of Peterson to go up 28 - 17. Bears can only get a FG to make the final 28-20.

VIKINGS:

PASSING:

N. WYOMING: 20/30/285 yds/1 td/2 int/80.5 rating

RUSHING:

A. PETERSON: 23/141 yds/2 td/6.1 avg
C. TAYLOR: 5/30/6.0 avg

RECEIVING:

B. BERRIAN: 7/106 YDS/1 TD
B. WATSON: 7/100 YDS
R. BROWN: 4/61 yds

DEFENSE:

M. WRIGHT: 6 tks/2 tfl
R. DENNEY: 6 tks/6 tfl/4 sack
P. WHEELER: 6 tks/4 tfl

BEARS:

PASSING:

J. BETTS: 16/25/248 yds/1 td/1 int/93.4 rating

RUSHING:

M. PITTMAN: 16/-6 yds

RECEIVING:

J. MOODY: 4/34 yds
G. OLSEN: 3/102 yds/1 td

DEFENSE:

L. BRIGGS: 9 tks/1 tfl
C. TILLMAN: 9 tks/1 tfl
M. BROWN: 8 tks

Would like to say, I'am sorry I have not played in a few weeks. Have been busy with Front Office Football - a texted base sim game. It is ok, but I miss the action on the field.

Re: Vikings Franchise ....a new era..(Season 2)

Viks finished the season beating the Rams (4 - 11) 31 -9, and beating the 49ers (5 - 11) 35 - 28. I did not write down the stats for the game, as I wanted to get a start on the playoffs, as I feel this might be the year of the Viks.

DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS

...VS...

ST PAUL, MINN:

COWBOYS: 22 (13 - 3).....VIKINGS: 17 (13 - 3)

Once again, the Viks are beaten in their first game of the playoffs. I am so...well, lets say the wife has left for the day, as I have vented all afternoon. The question I keep asking myself how did this happen?

The Viks started the game in very good form, returning the opening KO 97 yds by C. Taylor for the TD to make it 7 - 0. Viks held Dallas to a 3 and out. Viks then hit a great 53 yd pass down to the Dallas 1. The next play...maybe turned the game as the Viks fumbled and Dallas's CB picked up the fumble and returned it 99 yds for a TD. On the next series, the Viks are held to an 3 and out, and Dallas gets a nice return down to the Viks 30 yd line. Viks defense holds to a FG to make it 10 - 7. Viks finally get it together and go 70 yds as Stewart caps of the score to make it 14 - 10 Viks. Lead would not last long as Dallas hits a big play to make it 17 - 10 at the half.

Dallas takes the 2nd half KO and mananges a FG to make it 20 - 10. Both teams then swaped punts, but Dallas punt plus a personnel foul call put the Viks starting at their own 2 yd line. The next play, Dallas gets a safety to go up 22 - 10. Viks drive down only to be stopped at the Dallas 30 on downs, Viks get the ball again, and got a late TD and the last score to make the final 22 - 17.

Re: Vikings Franchise ....a new era..(Season 2)

VIKINGS SEASON RECAP

Once again it will be another long off-season for the Viks, as I decide what to do about this team. The owner did offer me another season after going 26 - 6 in two seasons, and a disappointing 0 - 2 during the post season.

Staff: (A overall)

There is going to have to be a change in a couple of the staff positions. As I finished 30th in the league against the pass...it is time for a new DB coach. Also after firing my last special teams coach....I'am not happy with our punting or any of our coverages. Plus, the fans want a college coach, so this is gonna be a change.

QB: (A plus)

What can be said, N. Wyoming, took Rookie of the year with a great year tossing 32 TD passes and only 13 ints. Hopefully next year he can build on this and is set to become the Viks QB for years to come.

RB: (B -)

Not a good year as far as production by one back. Peterson again missed most of the year and the playoffs. The team is going to shop Peterson, and see if there is any offers. J. Stewart is a very good back for pounding the ball, but lacks the big play ability. Taylor is getting old, and can't seem to hold onto the ball in big games (Playoffs).

WR: (B)

A grade of B, but could be an a C if not for the play of TE B. Watson. He led the team in receiving (88) and yds (1504) with only 5 drops. WR's have got to get more balls as they had 63 and 48 catchs each.

OL: (B)

The OL did a fair job this year, but injuries have got to be reduced, as 2 starters where put on the IR. Sacks were very high, but most where due to the QB's lack of agility to get out of the pocket. Running was good at times and great at others, due to injuries in the backfield.

DL: (A)

The DL carried the team most of the season, stoping the run to lead the league. DE J. Allan won DE of the year award getting 15 sacks. The group looks to add some dept next year and be a force again.

LB: (A)

Two of the three LB's led the team in tackles this year (Wheeler 76) (Henderson 74) and Wright had a great year for a rookie getting 56 tks. Coverage could be better, but overall, they played very well, not missing many tackles.

DB: (D)

30th in the league against the pass is not going to get it done. The very good QB have picked this group apart...even with the pass rush. They gave up way too many 3rd and long plays. Coaching might be the problem...and something will be done. Even if you are #1 against the run...you got to cover somebody.
