Whats the toughest strength of schedule you have ever had?
So, I am the Raiders going into my second season (2009) and I finished the year 13-3, winning the West, and 2nd seed with a bye. I lost miserably to the Colts in the division playoffs by about 20 pts (off the top of my head, I think it was about 54-35?) My defense was solid all year, but could not stop the Colt's pass attack at all (as well as the Pats towards the end of the season)
Recently, I got the schedule for the regular season and was shocked at how hard it is going to be...
I don't remember off the top of my head the exact week-to-week opponents, but I know I play the AFC North and the NFC East, as well as the Colts and Pats, and surprisingly my division shaped up to be very competative...
Here are their 2008 records:
AFC West
-Chiefs: 7-8-1 (Had a huge FA spending spree upgrading 3 OLs, signing Warner at QB and Colston at WR)
-Chargers: 8-8 (One of my losses in 2008)
-Broncos: 10-6 (Just missed wildcard)
AFC North
-Browns: 4-12
-Bengals: 8-8
-Ravens: 8-8 (Another one of my losses- their Defense is insane)
-Steelers: 10-6 (Won their division)
NFC East
-Redskins 5-11
-Cowboys 11-5 (Made the wildcard, lost in the NFC Championship)
-Eagles 13-3 (Made the wildcard, Won the superbowl)
-Giants 14-2 (Won their division, had #1 seed in NFC)
Others:
-Colts 12-4 (Won their division, beat me in the AFC Divisional game, Lost in the Superbowl)
-Patriots 15-1 (The last of my three losses in 2008, had #1 seed in the AFC, Lost in the AFC Championship)
So there you have it-
-the only three teams I lost against in 2008,
-6 playoff teams and one who just missed including the 4 teams that made it to the conference championships,
-a hard division with the lowest team almost making .500,
-and a combined W/L record of 136-104-2 which is a .567 win percentage
Has anyone seen a harder schedule than this in their years of coaching?
