Re: Zone vs. Man???

I think it depense on the skills of your Cb and the defense you run.
I used a 3-4 blitz defense with alot of man and once I loaded up with a few drafts of talent my defense was insane.

Staring over with rex Ryan's playbook, so much more zone coverage in blitzes will find out once I rebuild the team.

I did seem to get more picks when I woul dswap in a buzz play, but that could be because it fooled the QB, since most of the blittzes were man coverage.

Maybe a personal preference, but whenever i run a zone blitz it always seems that the QB finds the hole in the zone, so i just man blitz.

This. I will zone blitz on occasion but my CBs and safeties are solid in man and press coverage so I get the best pressure with man blitzes.

Heh, I blitz nearly all the time, 5 man rushes, LB Blitzes, A safety moved up to blitz, you name it. That poor O-Line gets pounded every play,, by the 4th Quarter the O-Line is dog tired. I never ever blitz the CB's though. LB's are blitzers for me, but CB's go on back....But I really do both Man and Zone

Re: Zone vs. Man???

I always get burned when I zone blitz. That's why I man blitz a lot more. My secondary is top notch (Ed Reed, Tanard Jackson, Rashean Mathis, Ellis Hobbs, Brandon Flowers), so needless to say they do pretty well in man coverage. I blitz my LB's a lot more. Keith Rivers does just fine in coverage, but Shawne Merriman is a player that is at his best when he's attacking the QB.

I you have a good secondary, then man blitz. Your guys should be better than theirs. I like throwing some zone blitzs to mix it up though.

Re: Zone vs. Man???

Question for those who say they get burned on zone blitz, there are 2 types. a blitz with you secondary in zone coverage or the Dick Lebeau zone blitz with lineman dropping back.

For me a "zone" blitz a Lebeau blitz and has plays called that.
Those do not work well for me, but a regular Biltz were the secondary is in a zone will work. ( still like man better )
If I man blitz most of the time and switch to a zone coverage later on it does confuse the QB.
