Stacked Franchise
I’ve never actually done a write up before, but I’ve always enjoyed reading others. It actually took me quite a while to set up the “bones” of my franchise.
What I have noticed in previous attempts is that no matter what the talent level of my current team is I can beat the average and below average teams 90% of the time. I’ve found subtle ways to increase the competition (changing all teams playbooks) but it never was all that much of a challenge. I’ve given up on the idea of making the poor teams decent and instead decided to stack the odds in the Elite Team’s favor. Ideally these team’s would have a fringe pro bowler at nearly ever spot. Stacking a team under the normal market would mean CAP ruin, but if you release all of the players and have them signed to 1 year deals the price for a contract will drop immensely. The contract system in the franchise must use some sort of formula based off the current contract and average market price for players. I’ve simmed through a season 3 times and in every case the Elite teams had re-signed all but 1-2 of their starters to 3+ year deals and had over $20M in CAP space. The Colts, who’s roster is listed below had re-signed every starter outside Lance Briggs and were coming in around $84M against a $116M cap. This means no team will ever be in CAP hell and elite roster can be maintained instead of weeded down. This will not benefit me much as I plan on signing max 1 starting level player per side a year and honestly cap management has always been my strong suit. I'll post the Elite rosters over the next day. For now take a look at the Colts. They've gone unbeaten in 2/3 sims and may have the best overall roster. The offense is slightly improved from the actual Colts, but on D they become monsters taking the best a Bear's has ever had. Re: Stacked Franchise
My Team:
I have picked the Houston Texans. It will be rough playing 3 elite teams twice a year. I picked Analyst as the personality type. I maxed out Performance and then focused on the QB spot putting physical development to 5 and intangibles to 3. I’ll max out all QB attributes first and then go after ambition. The Staff - Shanahan is could develop into a decent OC and I hope I can keep around Alex Gibbs. Smith isn’t the worst GM but everyone else I could see cutting at year end. Playbook I will change the philosophy and playbook around pending my personal. For now I’ll try to be a power running team with an attacking D. Offense – Custom emphasis on power running / 2 TE’s Defense – Custom multi formations 3-4, 46 blitz heavy Philosphy QB – Strong Arm RB – Power WR – Strong / Blocking TE – Blocking OL – All Run Block All D spots set as prototype |

I’ve never seen him stay healthy and wanted the challenge for myself. I had originally but him on the PATS but he could never play more than 8 or so games. |
