Gameplan Options
We all know that we have 3 gameplan options per week (during the season). I've always asked myself what exactly the different options train. For some of the options it's quite easy, for others not so much.
When you train a single play (offense or defense) you'll get that play mastered for most players. Nothing else, nothing less.
You can gameplan against the run or pass, making the opponent's most frequently called run or pass plays (whichever you chose) less effective in the game.
You can also gameplan for certain scenarios (e.g. defend 3rd & short, blitz outside runs, stop their HB by tackling).
My biggest question is what exactly does the option to work with a specific position do (e.g. 'Work with QBs', Work with DL')? Does it only influence their play knowledge or do these players actually improve (progression points) with this practice?
