Russel:

Backed up Laurence Maroney in 2005 and was set for a breakout season as the Gophers feature back in 2006 until he was forced to leave school due to his poor academics...Opted to go pro instead of getting his grades in order and applying for reinstatement...Was on pace to be a Day One pick and follow in the footsteps of Marion Barber and Maroney until he was sidetracked...Good player who could be a steal if he gets his head on straight...Terrific fit for a zone blocking scheme.

I said it before, the signing of Russel really intrigues me. I vaguely remembered him from his days in college. Depending on the status of Haynes, he could stick and possibly contribute.

Re: 2007-2008 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread

I was just watching NFL network, a report with Adam Schefter...he was saying that 49ers rb Kevin Barlow could be heading to Pittsburgh.
Apparently,Barlow's already visited Pittsburgh, but I didn't catch all the details.

I would imagine that ends Verron Haynes stay.I am actually excited about this if it holds up....imagine that backfieldParker,Davenport and Barlow.

**Barlow signed a 1 year deal**

Re: 2007-2008 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread

He walked on at Baylor as a linebacker. The story goes, coach asked if anyone could punt (guess they didn't have a punter on the team) he raised his hand, they let him punt and the rest was history. Supposdly he had not punted since 8th grade. His older brother played on the same Baylor team for two years(might of just been one year?) as a linebacker .
