2007 San Diego Chargers Thread

There's plenty of Charger fans on this board, so I think it's time to drum up some conversation about our team.

I think we're looking at another division title, with 10-11 wins in a normal scenario.

I passively follow this team mainly for LT. I'm a bit scared of what will happen with Norv as the head coach but he's never had this kind of talent to work with. It'll be interesting to see how fans react if the team goes through a rough stretch.

Anyways i'm looking forward to seeing the preseason game tonight.

I think that Norv will be great for LT... I mean look what he did with Frank Gore last year. LT has the opportunity to have an even better year than last year as long as Philip Rivers stays solid. I am more worried about the Defense this year with Edwards and Godfrey gone. They are going to be using some linebackers with very little NFL experience so I hope they can come through for us. I see us winning 12 games and possibly winning it all. But thats just me.

As far as ILB. Not worried about Stephen Cooper. I thought he was better than Godfrey last year anyway. Not a big Wilhelm fan myself. I think he's a nickel backer at best. I would not be surprised to see Wilhelm unseated by Dobbins or Siler before years end.

SS remains a concern. I like Hart in nickel/dime packages, but they've got to get big time contributions from Weddle on an every down type of basis this year. They are relying on his flexibility to do some things up front I think.

LT, Turner and even Pinnock will get theirs on offense. They key will be the continued development of Rivers, and one of the young WR's stepping up and becoming a legitimate big time perimeter target. We get one guy to step up outside, and Gates and LT will open up even more. I am hoping Jackson and Davis step up, and Parker goes to the role he's best suited for, playing in the slot.

Surprise player of the year: I am going with Legedu Naanee out of Boise St. Can play about 3 or 4 positions on offense, good athlete, gives the offense a ton of flexibility.

I know it's only Pre-Season, but it's really good to see Darren Sproles running around on the field.
