wtf?
In 2K, they dont have final minute in real time, so like pulling the goalie in the last minute of EA, its the same as pulling it with 2 mins left in 2k. Just an explanation

Like seeing the ref flatten himself against the boards to get out of the way. Puck movement is very nice and the CPU seems super aggressive. Very well done.

Also liked seeing the flyers shoot it off the boards. What a thing of beauty watching them cycle the puck before getting a shot off. The more I see, the more I like.
Except there's ZERO neutral zone pressure or standing up at the blue line and the defensive AI once it turns the puck over retreats to the net. I'll agree positioning is improved but its still pretty easy to see 2k10 still leans more to the arcade side of end to end fast hockey rather than actually returning to its 2k-2k3 sim roots.

The way WWTC was playing was pretty suspect to begin with, passing up scoring chances left and right and consistantly taking himself out of position defensively made it almost look like he was trying to give the AI scoring chances for the sake of saying the offensive AI is improved.

On the whole its better than 2k9, unfortunately not by much.

Some nice highlights in that period. I really liked the Briere goal where he carries the puck into the zone while criss-crossing with his teammate. Then he uses the defender as a screen and nets a hard shot. It's very rare if ever that I've seen or noticed a cpu teammate peform a criss-cross at the blue line.

More fantastic cpu cycling.

Lots of incidental contact and collisions, as well as puck/player separation.

I'd really like to know what the slider and gameplay settings were so that we could see how they produced what we saw.

For me, the effectiveness of the sliders will be the biggest determining factor as to whether or not the game will be great.

Kudos to the graphics team (Heather, I think) for really bringing 2k10 up to next-gen standards.

Oh, and still not really digging the goalies.

What is amazing about it to me is every period it played different. It felt like real hockey for that reason. Some times the other teams dominated one period and the other period is dominated by the other team. I am going to play this game Friday, I will see if I can to see if sliders really work well this year.

Really looking forward to some feedback about your hands-on experience!

Yeah me too. I don't know how much they will let me touch the sliders. But I am hoping for Realm you can fix the D guy playing back. Also, I want to see what the goalies play like. But I like this game. I don't know why, but I just do. I like EA a lot too. But the presentation is what make this the game for me. hope if you get this game you come up with some sliders. I love your sliders over any ones that I have played with. Though I would love to see real stats for 20 minutes periods. They said you should be able to do that this year.

From what I've seen so far, along with the listed sliders, I really do think the game could be tweaked for realistic 20 minute periods.

I too am very interested to find out how the goalies and defense can be adjusted through sliders. Hopefully you'll get the chance to do some tweaking.

Definitely interested in more about the presentation, especially the team-specific intros. I'm surprised that we have seen anything yet, considering how much ballyhooing has been going on about them. I'd like to know if they actually do mimic the real intros, like Minnesota's kid skating to center ice with a flag on a hockey stick and planting it on the faceoff dot. Stuff like that we be awesome to see in a game.

Overall, still very much on the fence with this game. I see a ton of potential for a great offline experience, despite some of the same awkward animations. Without the demo, it's impossible to get a feel for the controls to determine how skating and shooting respond, which really is discounting it as a release-day purchase right now. 2k really should set up something here in Minnesota at the Mall of America. Considering the huge interest in hockey here, I think it would go over big.

Wasn't there a "Last Minute Real Time" slider once upon a time? Or did that disappear in 2K8? I don't remember seeing it in 2K9 so maybe they removed it from the series entirely once VC took over...
