Icon3 2KHS (Early Access released)

updated on November 1st 2018

2K Hockey Simulator (2KHS) is the NHL 2K11 (Wii) mod developed for PC by djneo and One More Try.

The goal of this mod is to make ultra-realistic, physics-based hockey simulation, with highly detailed textures modelled over the real world replicas.
I'm focused on the all-time roster, but anybody from the community can make the current NHL roster (or any other roster) and share it with others.

Here are just key points what was already done:

GAMEPLAY
Re-think and re-design the motion model of the game, the movement of the players and the puck physics.
Retune the skating engine.
Retune the duration of skating animations, that includes the glide state, regular skate, hustle, backwards skating, skating sideways and the cross-overs.
Completely re-tune the acceleration animations, these were wrong from the core.
Re-think and retune the speed of regular skating forward vs skating backwards and skating sideways
Retune the shooting, passing, collisions and hitting animations.
Retune the speed of one-touch dekes.
Retune the responsiveness and speed of the defensive skill stick
Retune the transitions between animations
Retune all the goalie animations
Retune all the off-play real-time presentation animations, that includes the faceoffs animations, fighting animations, the goal celebration animations etc.
Everything now runs in a correct/ realistic speed as you would expect from a modern sim.

And last, but definitely not least we were able to hunt and fix one of the most annoying defensives AI bug that led to a crazy amount of breakaway situations
and left this game basically unplayable, from a sim perspective.

GRAPHICS
LOD model code, that forces the game to use the best LOD models
all time, thus improve the models significantly.
Authentic puck size model.
Fully animated benches code
Coach on the benches code
Animating crowd during the gameplay code.
60fps code, that force the game run at 60fps even during the real-time off-play cutscenes, replays, intros etc.
"No helmet" code that allows a to player use no helmet.
*Real-time reflections
*Realistic bloom
*Light scattering
*Phong Lighting
*Per-pixel lighting
*Antialiasing
*Dolphin, Ishiiruka features.

CONTENT
Broadcast camera 2.0

Re: 2KHS (Sep 2018 release)

Been following this from the very beginning, but still didn't realize that the improvements went this deep. I have so many questions, I wouldn't know where to start.

Amazing. The complete lack of situational awareness from the AI in certain scenarios definitely held these games back.

WOW...just WOW. This is pretty incredible what you've been able to do. So very impressed with your skill and passion for this project. I just watched your dev diary #1 and i was speechless. I have always thought the with all of 2k10s flaws, there was something there, so much potential. I really wish 2k could've survived long enough to make it to ps4, xbox one etc. I am beyond excited to play and experience all the hard work you've put into this. A big thank you my friend.

Re: 2KHS (Sep 2018 release)

I cannot wait for this! Looks spectactular and I have loved all your work in the past. Solid work as usual.

Just to confirm- we'll need a copy of 2K11 for the Wii that then can be converted to play on the PC?

Re: 2KHS (Sep 2018 release)

While I like what you've done with 2KHS....What's with the wonky square creases and ice markings? I also don't really see any current players. is this supposed to be like an All-Time mod?

Thanks
Yes, you still need the 2k11 on your hard drive as a base for all the new code and textures.
