Pretty looking game. Remembered I have Uplay+ and downloaded it last night. Might be the most colorful looking game I ever played outside of that PS5 game with the little girl in the woods about 2 years ago.

Completed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
  • Visuals - 10/10 (superb)
  • Audio - 8.5/10 (great)
  • Gameplay/Combat - 7.0/10 (good)
  • Story/Characters - 8.5/10 (great)
  • Overall - 8.5/10 (great)
Avatar is this generation’s best visual game through 2023 and simply looks amazing. Audio is really good from the music to the ambient sounds and voice acting is better than I was expecting. Story and characters for the most part were great and kept me interested the entire way through. Combat and gameplay is where I was disappointed. Main issue was having to use the Navi senses for almost everything from finding certain plants to waypoints to objectives, etc. I have never been a fan of “senses/vision” in any game and it’s always an automatic negative for me.

Playing on Guided mode, you still have to use the sense to know where your main objective is and if you turn off the compass, no reason to waypoint it because you won’t see anything. It’s very aggravating. People complained about the icons but well, I prefer icons and waypoints. Not being able to sell weapons/items for anything is horrible. Any game that has vendors in it should allow you to sell or dismantle them for resources.

Either way would be fine but neither exists. The HUD options are disappointing as I can’t take off enemy detection arrows or enemy proximity which is that white glimmer that circles the TV screen when an enemy is close.

Not only that but despite being a first person shooter, you can’t aim down sights which makes no sense. Your character is trained by humans and in cut scenes, you see the Navi aim down sights but you can’t do that in the game. SMH. Also, I played with enemy damage output on low and yet, the RDA human enemies (not mechs) can kill you in several shots to where it’s ridiculous. Flying is cool and air combat is solid while riding your flying creature (forgot what it’s called) but overall, it was the world, the atmosphere and the story/characters that won me over.

Despite it’s negatives, I do prefer it over Far Cry 6, AC Valhalla and WD Legion but Immortals Fenyx Rising is still Ubisoft’s best game this generation thus far. I am very happy that Ubisoft+ is on Xbox because for an $18 monthly rental, I would say that Avatar is easily worth a play through but for $70 or more, all depends on how much you’re into Avatar and Ubisoft games. And by the way, instead of icons on the world map, it’s a bunch of different color dots like Valhalla which I hate. Give me back my icons!!! Anyway, enough said.

Immersion in the heart of the Avatar universe is undeniably one of the strengths of this game. The settings faithful to the film create a captivating atmosphere, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the epic universe of Pandora
