Re: Microsoft Buyout of Sega?

4 companys have been responible for Sony's success-EA,Sega,Rockstar,and Squaresoft, if and this is a big if, MS was to get Rockstar and Sega exclusive i dont see how sony vould stay on top. EA will never go exclusive with MS or Sony because they dont want to abanding any market, and i doubt EA will ever be bought out because there are just too big.

Just think when the new xbox system comes out if they could launch with Halo 3, and GTA 5, wow that would be something.

Maybe you should worry about what happens in the present instead of 3 years from now. "Halo 3" LOL you are still a year away from Halo 2.

<--- Goes to play Zelda WW for an hour so I only have to watch the second half of KU/AZ.

Ahh so Sony had nothing to do with their own success? Of course they simply build, market and sell the hardware, along with some pretty big selling 1st party games (guess you forgot about the Gran Turismo, Twisted Metal series, syphon filter, etc, etc, etc).

Oh and in a way you can also thank 989 sports for the success of the PS1 which lead to the continued success of the PS2. They had football games like Gameday available that the Saturn did not have at the time. Remember the one year Madden hiatus at the start of the PS1.

Re: Microsoft Buyout of Sega?

you added alot of good points but lets be realistic here, the GTA series, Final Fantasy series, and the ea sports titles have been sony's bread and butter.

Re: Microsoft Buyout of Sega?

The GTA's on the PSX were not that strong of a seller and Sony was well in the lead before GTA3 came out. Sega (Saturn) and the N64 had EA sports games and it did not help them competing against the PSX.

Final Fantasy I will give you has been the biggest non-sony draw.

The PS2 success is based on two simple things.

A: The success of the PSX
B: The fact they released their next gen console One Year before their competition.

Re: Microsoft Buyout of Sega?

i agree 100% and i think the later of the 2 is the biggest key.
it is going to be real interesting too see who gets the next system out first.
but thats 2 years off lets enjoy The Xbox for what it is and thats the best system out right now IMO.
P.S. i love the PS2 when it first came out but the constant freez problems the poor system design and the frame rate problems moved me to the XBOX where i have had no problems yet. there both good systems and a war we have with Microsoft and sony!!!!!!!!
