Frank O'Connor said it will differ from how perks are implemented in CoD and the like though. I wonder what route they will go with that. I could see the different pieces of armor giving you certain buffs now. As long as they stay away from a leveling system that unlocks guns and attachments. That wouldn't happen anyway unless they completely retool the way multiplayer is.

Probably should have waited until they can say exactly why it's different, because that has a lot fans up in arms. Perk systems are a popular trend, but I've always liked the purity of Halo's multiplayer (especially 1-3), hopefully they can strike a nice balance.

the small snippets of gameplay video they showed looked sweet. The reworked audio, for the 1.5 seconds you get to hear, sounds good. I am confident 343 is going to take this in the direction it needs to go to keep Halo not only a relevant franchise but also the preeminent competitive console shooter as well. I am a bit concerned about the admission of adding perks that can alter gameplay but as long as the changes are minor and not a reflection of something from CoD/MW/BF then I'll probably be OK with it.

I love what I am seeing so far. Hoping for a long, enjoyable Campaign with this. Also, will this series ever make it to the big screen?!

If the perks aren't like CoD I'll be fine, the thing that draws me to Halo is that it's unique, and the fact that the maps are more open and you have vehicles

Seriously though, I think the perk system in CoD is flawed, and hopefully 343i can put their own style and flare to it. I have confidence that they'll rethink the franchise, but keep it true to the heart that Bungie made. It's hard to believe that some of the best battles are still only from Halo: Combat Evolved.

The thing that I really liked about it is the mobility of the Spartans. Halo has continued to slow down your character of the course of the series, but 343 looks to be going for (and mentioned in an interview) to up the speed of the game a lot.

I've heard that 343i still have them, but they're more like a boost to get you a little higher, not to let you fly. Not 100% sure, but I wouldn't mind that very much.
