Re: Cyberpunk 2077

So just to clarify because I know some people won't be bothered by some of these things.

Yes, I'm pretty disappointed in Cyberpunk, but it's not a bad game.

It's just not the game I had hoped for, and even among its peers it doesn't do a lot of little details that could have separated it from, or at least put it on part with it's competition. And the reason that I used GTA as a comparison, because everything about the game from the mechanics to the way the map functions feels like it came out of GTA, Saints Row, or other games in that category....and also because it simply doesn't hold a candle to the truly free and immersive*worlds of Skyrim, Outerworlds, Etc...Games that I wish Cyberpunk was comparable to in scope.

For better or worse though, this game fits into the mold of GTA (which if we're being honest was never a truly immersive game in the first place), and the problem there is that even in that genre it doesn't fit the open world part as well as a game whose original release was on the Xbox 360.

That isn't to say that Cyberpunk doesn't do anything really well in the open world market. The diversity of environments is a big plus. It's much better to be able to go inside buildings than just to have a bunch of city blocks. I also appreciate the crime scenes that randomly pop up with police taking pictures, but that's about all it does to give the semblance of a real world (speaking of police, where are they outside of those scripted instances? I never just see them driving around town). To reiterate, GTA is not the gold standard of open world games, but some people have put together some pretty good comparison videos to illustrate how far behind Cyberpunk is even compared to that game. A few examples would be:*

1.) Cyberpunk - Stand in the street. A car will either run you over or just stop and wait forever for you to move...GTA - They will run you over or stop, but if they stop then they will eventually make another action like drive around your or just run you over.*

2.) Cyberpunk - Any aggressive action like punching a civilian or aiming your gun at someone will result in that NPC cowering or running away. In GTA they will flee, cower, or fight back. Sometimes even a separate passing NPC will take an action against you if they see you doing something they don't like.

3.) Cyberpunk - if you do something to get the police interested in you, they literally teleport on top of your position. GTA...you can see police cars coming from afar to get you.

4.) You're completely unable to change your appearance after the initial character customization in Cyberpunk, which is particularly odd given the setting.

And so on.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077

I had no expectations going in, perhaps they were even relatively low. I'm enjoying it, but knowing how much time was put into it the lack of 'simple' things in a city environment like driving AI and some basic routines for peds (as seen in some of the GTA comparison videos) are disappointing. That being said, I was so impressed initially with the game that I pulled the trigger on a chair (attached) and will continue to tinker with it. I won't be getting a refund, even if I opted to take a break for a bit for some patches. I have bad gaming ADD, so it's already gotten above average amount of play from me for a new game.

On the topic of refunds, man Sony sure is taking one on the chin for this one, declining to issue them and telling people 'patches are coming next year'.

This game has "check it out a year from now and it will be awesome" written all over it. Much like No Man's Sky (even though they are different genre's.

Agreed and the Next Gen visual update will be a really good start. I'm playing on the Series X and I haven't had any issues (re:Bugs) and the visuals are not bad but I would be a tad bit pissed if I was on a lower system.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077

I actually think lack fo third person really hurts this game, especially with such attention to character creation and the such.

Maybe by the time the next gen upgrade or DLC drops they will have come back around to the idea of it being playable in 3rd person and give us the option. I get their reasoning behind it but to put so much attention on character creation seems a wasted opportunity only being playable in 1st person.

For those that are currently playing do you all think the game would be affected negatively by having a 3rd person perspective.

I know the game initially started off as a 3rd Person game but they switched it to 1st person like 2-3 years ago.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077

For some reason I thought it was going to be a FPS the whole time.
