For those that didn't see this, there are some changes coming to the nightfall and weekly heroic, for one both require level 40.

The nightfall will no longer kick to orbit if you wipe, though you now have a 30 second timer for res. No longer grants XP buff (though they buffed XP all around to compensate).

Weekly heroic strikes are going away, to be replaced by a heroic strike playlist, first three strikes completed on any character grants the normal 3 weekly heroic rewards.

Daily PVP/story are now once per account rather than per character, but rewards have been increased.


Looks like the 2.0 patch hits the 8th, which should bring all these changes except all the new TTK story, strikes, gear, etc. It's also going to be odd that, since they usually don't patch until well after the weekly reset, they will have a weekly heroic and nightfall up before the patch.

You play the heroic strike playlist and the first three give you those coins. Works out better in the end, you can do those three back to back and not worry about switching chars and weapons. Plus maybe they will have random modifiers since it's a playlist, so you get bad modifiers or a terrible strike you just back out and spin the wheel again.

I'm honestly not going to try and speed to 40 at all. I think getting all my chars to 34 so quick is part of what burnt me out of this game. 10 days in, I had 3 max chars and had beaten the end boss; what more was there to do? I'm gonna take it slower, whenever I get the expansion (prolly won't get it day 1)

Apparently this is wrong? You will only get bonus legendary marks from the first three weeklies, they tweeted that since you won't have the weekly source of coins you will get them more often from more activities. Why they didn't just give you the coins for the first weekly strikes? No idea, probably to make coins seem more valuable so they can give more in event packages and from engrams.

Its to make coins require more game time, and to make it slightly more time consuming to buy stuff from xur in the future. So those who have horded 200+ coins, they were smart. Very smart.

I remember watching a Destiny interview pre HoWs with a dev where they as a studio had just realized it was "ok for gamers to turn off destiny and play other games" like they finally realized they didnt have to make everything so arbitrary and time consuming with 100 different currencies to upgrade your upgrades of an upgrade. And it showed in HoW. Everything was so streamlined and simple. But now it seems like they are slowly going backwards on that and making things sneakily take longer to do than before. Arbitrary caps on legendary marks, not being able to just focus on three weeklys for your 27 coins. No more XP bonuses for doing a nightfall that week. Idk. I guess we'll see with what frequency coins drop on sept 8th.



And a side note, I kinda liked having to do nightfalls and weeklies with three different characters :-/ forced me to actually use my titan.
