The way Sony is going about this just seems shady.

Agreed, the way the entire thing is being run is bad. I can understand people not wanting to disclose how much funding they've received outside of Kickstarter, but at least tell us how many corporations have funded so far. Shenmue the game is amazing, and a third installment is going to be great. But when you only disclose a select amount of information, but ask for 7 million more, don't expect to achieve that goal.

The stretch goals are ridiculous too, they provide very little insight and some are just additional languages. Kickstarter is like you're attempting to sell your game to a company with thousands of board members. No one would ever go into a meeting and provide three words for insight on an additional idea for the game.

The whole concept should be somewhat like let me see Yu Suzuki pitch his game to board members, and maybe I'll let you see my money. But I'm a fanboy and gave them my money anyway so shrug.

I never heard of this game BTW. I'm intrigued due to the support though.

Yea, they're a little high. Hopefully they open up a PayPal or something after the time limit. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects.../posts/1278195 link provided is basically an "interview" where Yu Suzuki answers a boatload of questions about the game. His idea's are awesome, if the funding is met.

Re: Shenmue 3 (PC/PS4)

I've never played this series. I was wondering whether 1 and 2 needed to be played before thinking about 3. I have both an Xbox and Dreamcast so it could be possible.

Even with the issues, both Shenmue and Shenmue 2 are still worth playing as there is nothing quite like these games. This is especially true when you consider that Shenmue 3 takes place directly after the cliffhanger ending of the second game. While there will be recap videos of both game in the third game, the experience of watching is simply not the same as being able to control Ryo as he walks around trying to figure out where to go next.

With Shenmue III not expected to come out for the PlayStation 4 and PC until the holiday season of 2017 at the earliest, you should have more than enough time to play through the first two installments of the series.
