re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021

They royally screwed up the TTK/TTD in Battlefield V when people complained that the game was too hard and for that I'll never forgive 'em but overall Battlefield V did a lot of things right. They gave in way too much really when people cried about a lot of stuff.. some of that I think is just having community managers that don't actively play the game to understand what people are actually talking about. The community managers all seem like good dudes so I won't bitch about them personally because that's not right but the game needs people who understand it relaying the right information.

There's no console FPS game with the same level of detail that BF has with settings customization. It's really expansive once you start messing with it from something simple like field of view to customizing controller axial and horizontal deadzone sensitivity.. they provide a lot so if they can retain the gun mechanics and just bring the fun back to the series again that would be great.

I'm okay with the game being slightly futuristic because it gives them the freedom to do what they want without the backlash of a bunch of neckbeards on reddit.

Ultimately BFV just lacked content and quality maps and actual quality control. Some of the same glitches have existed in the game for 2 1/2 years. They forgot how to design a large map that is actually fun with plenty of cover and quality objectives. The large maps are all just wide open and the game's best maps are all sweat lord close quarters stuff. If they tone down the smoke and hip fire aim assist in the next game a lot of people are in trouble.

Anyways.. really looking forward to the reveal.

I remember doing that with BF3. Still my favorite game of the series. I couldn't get that into BF1 or BFV, and I hope the next iteration is closer to 3 or even 4 with a modern theater.

Can’t wait for the reveal tomorrow. I still play BF4, 1, & occasionally 5. Really hoping DICE wows everyone with the trailer.

re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021

Been playing V the last few nights in anticipation of the announcement and I feel like the game is in a pretty good place at this point. I hadn't played in quite some time, but the game feels and plays well. It's still too fast for my liking.

I was able to find one lone NA community server on PC that was hardcore mode and I enjoyed that pacing and TTK much more as expected, but it was literally the only NA community server showing in my browser, so I'm guessing hardcore is dying if not already dead in this game/community.

I've always enjoyed how hardcore was a slower paced game with things like 3D cameras disabled, some HUD elements removed, and the obvious less TTK. Even going back to Bad Company 2 I enjoyed it more. Back then the HC servers were much more present and full.

Has HC essentially been dead since it was implemented into V? I remember waiting for it awhile back and losing almost all interest in the game as the wait was way too long, so I didn't get to see if it was ever more popular.

I'm guessing that HC is basically an afterthought in the franchise at this point and the community doesn't care for it much either which does make me sad. I'll still play the new game, even with the games being worse almost each release since BC2 the "bad" games in the series are still fun, they just aren't the masterpiece BC2 was or even the great games 3 and 4 were, which those even had the noticeable shift towards a faster pace and that's why I think they're both worse than BC2.

I'd like to see in the reveal and other news throughout the week that the series is slowing the gameplay down some more, but I'm not holding my breath. I know they attempted to slow it down some in V and I think it was slower than 1, but even compared to 3 or 4 and especially BC2 or 2 the game is still pretty fast.

Some more image leaks.

Also according to IGN/Reddit the release date is likely scheduled for October 15 and the game will be titled Battlefield 2042

All of this information came from Origin.

The game looks like it will be amazing from a graphical standpoint. That's not all surprising, but if these are gameplay shots it looked incredible.

re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021

It looks like the firing taking place as a result of the BFV culture war may pay off. I don't care too much about the Michael Bay Cinematic trailer as long as the gameplay itself is good that's the most important thing to me at this point.

It looks like they may finally have an actual vision for Battlefield again.
