Also, is there a deadline for applications?
Deadline is when we fill the positions. Realistically speaking, it's best to get your application in this business week. We'll likely move pretty fast.

*Idk if this helps but I believe that you have to write two real articles. Think of something about madden 10/11/12/13, or whatever game or sport your interested in. Think back to a time you were playing the game and something either frustrated or excited you. Write about the situation and the emotion that followed, then add how'd you'd fix it. *However since they are asking for two mock articles it'd be wise to do positive and negative articles. And as far as the three articles you'd like to write. *From the wording I think you just need ideas like: boring sidelines taking away from the game atmosphere!, where did all the big hits go in football games?, or the most popular one I'd like to see ( blank ) in next years game. I don't work for OS so I'm not sure but based on the wording like I said that's what I took from it. *And don't forget to be passionate!*

Would you prefer if the resume/writing samples were sent as files?

It's either/or on those. Personally I'd prefer them all be sent via e-mail and not within attachments for ease of use purposes, but you won't be DQ'ed if it's all in a word doc either.
