I hear you. I've switched my program a lot over the past 3 or 4 years.
I used to do splits religiously, but for the past 6 months have been doing full-body workouts.
I love them. No more drudging through 12 or 15 sets for the same body part.
I found myself getting mentally fatigued.
Knowing that after 3 sets of squats, I have chest, I can bust through that with gusto.

I hear you about the long arms. I have them, and thin wrists too and I found my wrists and shoulders were aching a lot more than I liked.
The dumbbells allow me a lot more control so my elbows never dip below 90-degrees, saving my shoulders.

I enjoy squats (as much as anyone can enjoy those horrible exercises) but I too feel it in my knees after a while.
I might try those smith machine lunges to give them a break.

Like Jonesy said, it's all about preference and body type.
You can take 100 people and have them all mimic Arnold's routine to a Tee, but all 100 won't look anything like Arnold.
Find what works for you.

I'm loving full-body workouts. I'll probably stick with them for the long-haul.

I'm starting to get a bit more defined in my chest, and arms and starting to see some growth... but definitely not near my goal physique of Brad Pitt from Fight Club, or Taylor Lautner from the 2nd Twilight movie on.

Still going to work super hard to gain at least 15 lbs of muscle by Summer time.
That's awesome. Good for you, man!

The older I get the more I realize that diet is about 80% of the battle.
I have a major sweet-tooth so I have to be conscience of the chocolate I eat.
I'm fine without soda or chips. But chocolate and fast food are my major vices.
I'm lucky that I have a fast metabolism, but it's slowing down. I need to start eating better if I want to look half-decent in my 40's (which are fast approaching).

I have a stay at home wife who loves to bake...

I lose.

You can't NOT eat what she makes, she's so excited about it. I don't want to go supermodel and go throw it up after eating it... so I've come to grips that as long as she doesn't mind a little excess covering the muscles... then whatever

Totally agree about diet being the hard part. I love to train my *** off but i also LOVE to eat and LOVE to have some beers. I look decent enough now and have made some great progress but it's the always the diet that holds me back from achieving spectacular results....

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

I've officially started back on superset training. Finished my first workout a few minutes ago, and WOW... Feels good, in a bad/good sort of way. The burn was immense, and I have a pump like I haven't had in a while. Good to mix things up a little bit.

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

With my back out of commission, I'm having to postpone this week's workout. I'm really upset about it, because I had found my ryhtm in the gym.

I gained 7 pounds in two weeks, but none of it was actual fat.. all muscle.

I finally started using Syntha-6, but I haven't had much chance to give any feedback. Most of the people I know say it gives them leaner muscle and helps out big time, with their lifting.

What!? Some of that had to be water weight.

How does the Syntha-6 taste to you? I'm thinking about buying some True Mass, which is made by the same company.

I haven't tried everything, but of the three I've tried, It's got the best taste.
